  Thanks everyone.

  I'm not looking to spend much time, or any, in the Basque region. I have a great deal on an apartment outside Perpignan for a month, and will be using that as my home base, occasionally spending a few days in a different region, I'll have a car the whole time. So it is that part of France and the Catalonia region of Spain with Barcelona as my southern boundary.

  Cadaques and Girona are great, and I'm looking for smaller, less-known gems as well.
