not sure, if you add a large image, blurred under the text, instead of the blue screen it might work - but then this would totally change your initial concept.
You can try something with green and orange colors for the smaller pictures to give it depth.
I wouldn't touch the text, it is fine. I think it is just something very small that is missing...
The drop-down menu is really good!
