can i use a 3d app for mac with my vector files from illustrator?

    • not sure about blender > def can in mayakewHexton1/12
ill be using the software mainly for my hobby of making giant robots. so im not earning off it.o_O2/12
is maya the only real route for me though? or is there other opportunities with 3D and $ ?o_O3/12
It sounds like you'd be interested in more of the modeling side of things -- I've heard that modo (mentioned above) is a good modeling tool but I'm really just a maya guykewHexton4/12
      here is my vector work.

i want to make it 3D.

i missed the modo link, it looks like a fit. or better than blender.o_O6/12
yeah def talking about modeling which most programs above will allow you to do > just with different toolskewHexton7/12
the base c4d pacage is under a grand. works well with AI files. download the trial and give it a go.Chief8/12
I know C4D will import Illustrator curves. I suspect most if not all 3D programs can also. Looks like most of your work would be done with 3D primitive tools though.CyBrain9/12
... with 3D primitive tools: extruding cylinders, etc.CyBrain10/12
i actually draw out everything you see. i may use an extrusion app for references.o_O11/12
but everything you see, is drawn out with the pen tool.o_O12/12
