If I may humbly weigh in here, this election seems to be mirroring what happened in the Australian elections late last year – left-wing voice of change and reason up against scare-mongering right-wing incumbent who had been in for 11 years already and had nothing left to lose, so was really offering more of the same.
It looked like it was going to be a very close race, but in the end, change (and thankfully, reason) prevailed and the left won easily.
