From a friend that just saw it through a charity pre-screening in NYC.
"Off topic...saw The Dark Knight last night. Uh....masterpiece! I know some mature adults who don't want to see it because it's, y'know, a comic book movie and all, but believe me when I tell you that this movie has more in common with crime dramas like Heat, The French Connection, and, believe it or not, The Wire, than Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, or Spider-Man. This is epic, huge, storytelling of the very thin lines that separate heroes from villains, justice from anarchy. It's very long and dense, and certainly not for the children. In a way I can't even believe the the film is rated PG-13 since some of the very mature subject matter and violence would suggest an R-rating. Highly recommended for casual moviegoers and the highbrow cineaste. This is the best movie I've seen all year. A lot of people will scoff at that comment now and then, after seeing the film, realize that it's right on target."

"Tell all your friends about me..."
"Well I don't really have too many friends really. Us criminal types don't socialize and all.."
"I see. Well who can you tell?"
"I suppose my mum."
"All right, you tell your mum that there's a new bat in town and he's all over her..."
"I can't tell my mom that!!"
"Just get out of here..."

There are so many reasons I'm excited about this. To see what they did with the IMAX cameras, not the least of them all.

oh man..
I remember when the first batman movie came out.. I was so excited.. I loved it. That's when superhero movies where rare and unusual, now every year you have 4 superhero movies a year.I'm not hating just saying that maybe I just grew out of this, I keep watching a few of them on cable or dvd, I think the last s hero movie I saw in the theater was spiderman 1
and the new superman, man that was a total let down..anywhoooo...
I want to go see the gengis khan movie, which I'm sure will look like a superhero movie.. does that count?

"Daring and uncompromisingly different from previous incarnations of Batman, Nolan hasn't redefined the superhero genre as much as created an unforgettable piece of crime fiction within the context of that realm."
"The haunting and visionary Dark Knight soars on the wings of untamed imagination."
"Nolan's sequel surpasses the original with an intense, disturbing masterpiece."
"Martin Scorsese's The Departed. Michael Mann's Heat. Brian de Palma's The Untouchables. And now, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight can join the ranks as one of the best crime dramas in modern movie history."
"Made me jizz in my pants."
