"According to a recent international survey, the French are now considered the most obnoxious tourists from European nations, behind only Indians and the last-place Chinese as the worst among countries worldwide. And it's not just the rest of the world that has a gripe with the Gallic attitude: the French also finished second to last among nations ranking the popularity of their own tourists who vacation at home."

"Over all, French travelers landed 19th out of 21 nations worldwide, far behind the first-place Japanese, considered most polite, quiet and tidy. Following the Japanese as most-liked tourists were the Germans, British and Canadians. Americans finished in 11th place alongside the Thais."

It's a bit unfair though, as North Americans speak English, and English is the language of business. And you can almost always find someone who speaks English somewhere.
Anyway, all countries should be accommodating / welcoming when someone goes to their country. I know the tourist should have some knowledge of the area (at least the laws), but the tourist could also bringing something (ie. money) to the country they are visiting.

Yeah, I kinda knew that when a couple French exchange students came over in Feb. I hosted one of them, good thing he wasn't obnoxious, he just took HELLA long showers.

i've often found chinese people to be quite rude... won't move out of the way for anyone, or just barge you out of the way

whereas brits don't barge you out of the way as they're usually too sunburnt and sunstroked to move too fast

It's dumb to group people up like that - depends on the person - how they were raised, etc.
This is more of an excuse to state which nationality you already despise for whatever reason. If I were to base my negative opinion regarding the nationality of a tourist on a few bad eggs, then I'd hate the world. But I don't. I have to deal with tourists every fucking day - a lot of them French. And I enjoy their company.

I guess people just tend to stick out when they are unfamiliar with local customs, though I do think it’s always good to at least find out what some of these customs may be. Ignorant people the world over are guilty of this.

This Brit couple was being very pushy at the train station this morning whilst getting tickets, guy was asking and asking how the TVM worked and what not. Got pushy with the conductor too. Maybe he was having a bad day.
