Any one do this? I am thinking of getting a big tv for classroom presentations instead of a projector... does anyone have any experience with this? Is the image sharp?

I use a 42" LCD in my lounge to check my email now and then, the image is ok but the contrast etc is a bit wacky. Thats probably as I'm using a vga cable. Works pretty well though.

Yeah probably, do you have a laptop? If you do take it into a tv place with a vga cable and try it out?

If you get a dvi > HDMI cable then you could be on to a winner, definately easier to see than a projecter if the room is quite brightly lit.

the resolution won't be too high for desktop demonstration use though.

I use a DVI to HDMI cable on a 42" LG HDTV from my aging PBG4 with no problems whatsoever. There are probably settings you can tweak on your HDTV to get the colours and contrast acceptable enough. It will never be 100% spot on as per a dedicated monitor, but for presentations its perfect.
