No, but off the coast of England I imagine that it would be fucking freezing! My brother-in-law got his PADI cert when he was in Thailand a few years ago, loved the experience. My sister also did it but couldn't last, got too freaked out by all the scuba gear so didn't finish the course.

I dunno how long it took my brother in law, but I can ask him if you like raf. I think its a certain amount of lessons, so you can do them in whatever timeframe you like. They were in Thailand for ages though so it may not be something you could do in a week.

my course is 7 evening classes with pool sessions afterwards to practice skills etc. then you have to complete 5 open water dives here http://www.dive-site.co.uk
i have the kit already so the total cost is £180
my partner has just finished his open water sessions and the last time he went it was 6 degrees lol. hopefully the water will have warmed up by time time i get to go :)
