    This Waitrose advert: "Picnic"
is pretty similar to this one: "Pepsi Presents the Woodstock 25th annv":

    Isn't it?

At least they could have changed the background music...

Not really. The same song, sure, but other than that it's people gathering in a field.

The copywriter responsible for "everyone deserve quality food" should be murdered, though.

When will advertisers learn that cumshots sell everything.

    How dare you question Waitrose!

    heh.

I don't have anything to back up my opinion, but I'd say they were both inspired by something else - have you seen the Woodstock movie? Maybe that? They're both riffing the 60s 'set up a party in the countryside' and that being the case, there's only really one song choice.

Still, similarities aside, there's enough novelty in the Waitrose one to let them off the RIP hook.

not really. That's what woodstock was - people in a field both ads are playing on the woodstock "togetherness" angle.

Since you are in the UK I provide this:

I'm just smarting because Waitrose have started stocking Gazpacho again, which means it's summertime and I am happy.

Well, I say 'happy', I'm lying - but, less miserable than usual.

"Dont you wish your youth was as easy to hold onto as a nice cold pepsi?" *spew*

Watching that one reminds me how much I dislike the overkill of cheesiness of American advertising.

Funny, I only have seen the Waitrose commercial. This was the first time a saw the Pepsi commercial.

I did not know that Pepsi was still in business, everywhere I go they only sell Coke.

Are you sure that Pepsi did not steal the commercial from waitrose, like they tried to steal Coke?

And no, no they didn't. The song is the same. The ad is completely different.
