Wow, I got an email from my mom yesterday, some silly wisdom-infused-pass-this-along to the people you care about and you will be granted good happiness blah blah blah, but it had pictures and she said, "How do they do this illustration?"

After another email to figure out which one she was talking about, it was this:

    http://www.mg33.net/newstoday/ATT00028.gif

LOL, she was really mystified. Truly, I have no idea how to explain what a gif is! I'm going to mess with it and put myself in it and send it back to her, or put a giant wiener in the background, dancing.

Funny thing is, there was another one on the page - creepy shit if you ask me - I was hoping she was talking about this:

My mom always sent me random emails about jobs and items for sale. Like MP3 players, books, and random jokes. When I was looking around for a computer, she kept sending me ads regarding systems that were on sale. It was cute, I guess.

    • my mom liked to send me jobs for anything computer related. 99.9% of them were not web design fields7point341/3

My mother titles every single email she's ever written me – "Mom"
She has also never replied to an email, she always composes a new one... She also doesn't comprehend the notion of paragraph formatting...

My mom just discovered multiple recipient emails.
I guess that her next steps would be online forums and social networks.

I jokingly told her yesterday, "I hate to tell you this, but I never see those emails. They're all routed to my trashcan." LOL

    • I don't automatically send them, but I do delete most of those emails manually.Jaline1/2

I actually look forward to my mum's emails, as she is really very funny and filled with contempt for hte vile scourge that is humanity, yet filters her obsvervations through a lens smeared with irony and dry wit.

However, we have had a ten year battle over why she must stop using powerpoint to design posters and concert programs for her job.

    • wait, your mom is detritus?flashbender1/3
lol and still the battle rages!ian2/3
I gave up. She's happy with publisher and powerpoint. Even if she was able to appreciate coreldraw (at least)Fariska3/3

Haha Tara. My mom called me once not long ago and asked me how she was supposed to log into her work Intranet's Benefits Site.

I mean, she was literally, literally asking "What do I put for password? What goes in user ID? It's not letting me in?"

I told her THREE TIMES that I could not possibly help her and was just floored that she would even think I would know what to do. She didn't say it, but the underlying "Well you're so good with computers" thought was totally with her. Right on the tip of her tongue.

    • Yeah, my mom says the same thing all the time. Doesn't mean you can help everyone with every problem.Jaline

Point5 and TheBlueOne have some good stories about this, don't they?

I actually feel bad for the baby-boomers who can't use computers or similar technology. It's sad, yet leads to hilarious (and annoying) stories.

My mom uses as many exclamation points in her emails as e-pill does in his posts here (i like to imagine her screaming her emails from a mountaintop) and my dad takes forEVER to respond to emails which is somewhat ironic since he used to be a sysadmin and had to respond to various crises daily.
