  Never used Parallels or anything like that but I'm trying to run a Windows-only program on Leopard. Can some suggest a free Parallels type program or a quick how-to por favor?

  download the demos for parallels and or vm fusion. works for 30 days.
  both ran everything i threw at it. and at $80 or so, it's kind of a no brainer.

  So is it an app that just runs on the Mac desktop? Or do I need to reboot or something? How do I install an .exe to it? Thanks for the help.

  it's an app that runs like any other in leopard. your windows window is like a mac app on the desktop. just have parallels as the active window and install as you normally would.

  Thanks again...I'll try it out after work. So once I launch either Parallels or VM, is it easy to install and launch a .exe file? Is that done in the program itself?

  I use VMWare Fusion, just make sure it is running and launch the .exe file within the Windows environment and you should be good to go.

  parallels lets you use a bootcamp partition, so you can can run both OSes simultaneously with parallels, or just boot into windows with bootcamp for apps that need heavy processor power. not sure vmware can do that.

  One more ? and it might obvious, but once I install Parallels or VM, do I then need to install a version of Windows? Or am I able to just launch the program I'm trying to use...

  you will need to install windows as you would on a real PC.

  Crossover Mac is a project based on Wine that will run a select number of windows apps without the need to install the windows OS. pretty cool, but it doesn't support every app. they have a demo too, so check it out if it suits your needs.

  Doh! Yeah, didn't think it'd be that easy. So even if I just want to test a program out I gotta install a Windows version? Ugh. Anyone know of a working version I can download?
