I use SimpleViewer, and it might be what you're looking for? After it's set up, you simply upload all your images, run the PHP file, and presto, all you need to do is add some titles and such.
If you need help let me know. I've used the free version for a while and figured out some tweaks with it. Also, since your question is about resizing photos automatically, it will do that by what size you set the display to.
