  Vice President Cheney and his lovely wife reportedly earned $2,528,068 in 2007 and ownly paid $602,651 in taxes. That is only about 24% in taxes. Must be nice, considering that the average working class American is paying the FUKN' government between 30% to 39% in taxes.

  This country is so corrupt, we American's deserve nothing less than another "Great Depression" to wake our lazy apathetic asses up, period!

  Just because people find a way to be more successful than you or I doesn't mean their share of the social burden should increase that much.

  As a matter of fact... people like Cheney in the top 2% tax bracket of this country (regardless of the rich-boy Bush tax cuts) STILL FOOT 40% OF THE TAX BURDEN.

  Yes... 2% of this country literally pays 40% of the entire country's taxes.

  So before you get off complaining about one man's % burden being lower than your % burden... imagine you and your wife being forced to cough up $600k simply because you had an exceptionally successful year... doesn't seem fair... does it? Because it's not. :)

  Rich people should not have the burden of handling 40% of this country's costs. THAT is wrong in my opinion.

  Just because people are successful doesn't mean they use more roads, more public services... more public programs...

  ... oh SNAP... wait a sec... Rich people handle the entire burden of welfare etc... I forgot. :)... that is if you break down the money spent on welfare and 'the poor' in this country.

  People should be rewarded for being successful... not over-burdened...

  Actually the principle of taxing pro ratio for your income is that like air, water, radio frequencies, light, etc, the whole of the money belongs to the whole of the people, there is only one money, and it belongs to us all, in that that portion that is claimed back as being of joint collective ownership, and recouped from the individual is known as taxation, and in theory is used to be spent by everyones 'collective' decision-making government.
  Tax is an illusion, just think of the money you earn as mostly yours, with a bit of everyone elses tacked on the end.
  Don't be fooled by the integer-bias of currency designers - think of a $1 bill as really three quarters of yours with some extra baggage that represents our collective societal wealth.

  Cheney probably did use more resources to create that wealth. Not himself directly but he makes money from the labor of others who, while acting on his behalf, must use public resources.

  Look at it on a dollar to dollar level, when Cheney earns a dollar, he gets to keep 76 cents. When most folks earn a dollar, they keep 66 cents. What he paid is more than fair compared to someone paying a higher percentage. Each dollar is taxed. Bring in more dollars, tax more dollars.

  Don't worry about Cheney. He will get by.
