You're just using it for a party invitation?
I mean I'm sure they probably won't be all that enthused to anything with their name/likeness in terms of a party, but you should be fine as long as you aren't making any money.
We've made huge banners with the PITT Panther, shirts and everything ... it's not really a big deal when it's non-profit and especially when they won't ever see it...

I'm no alumni.
This is the message I recieved today:
"FYI...using the UT shield on the Alvin Fest logo is against copyright laws. I had a meeting with Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Kaye Patten Wallace and Dean of Students Zauyah Waite today and they both know about the UT shield. I told them that I would contact you and ask you to remove it before they would. Let me know if I can be of any other assistance!"

why don't you just put an A and an F in there instead of the U and the T?

Ask who? Everyone here?
I just figured asking people who deal with and make logos all the time would have a bit more knowledge than some people who are pissed off about kids drinking. The message I received was over facebook by a member of the student government. I'll wait for something a little more formal before I do anything. ahhh well
