My mother asked me to give her a Christmas wishlist the other day, and it made me think...... what do i want?
It was so easy when I was a kid. I wanted a new action figure, or castle grayskull (yes, i was a he-man fan). One time i even got a nintendo gameboy.
Now, I could care less if I receive anything. My focus has shifted from the joy of receiving (don't get me wrong - that's nice...) to the joy of watching someone else's face light up when they open a package from me. It gives me such a warm feeling.
The only things I can even think of are possibly a gift certificate at a frameshop or, books on typography, logo design, grid systems, etc.... am I a total nerd?
Over the past few years it's gotten harder and harder to think about what I would like for x-mas, I guess that it's really more for the kids......
So what would you ask for? What were you into when you were a kid? Just kinda curious.

I have the same problem with my Mom. She asks for lists, but I NEVER get what I put on there.
Christmas may be a bit materialistic in the "list" sense: "Hey, I want this, get it for me." and you expect to get it.
But my Mom buys stuff that I don't need, clothes, etc. It's even worse for my girlfriend. My Mom's bought her a few things she would never wear and are not her style.
I try to suggest gift certificates, but my mom thinks they're too impersonal.
Strange logic. GC's allow the person to get what they want when you don't know what they want. Simple, safe bet.
I was thinking of telling my mom I want a 1GB memory card for my Fostex 8-Track because I really need it.
My luck I'd end up getting some kind of memory enhancing herbal pills.

I am 32 years old and my mom still gets me tons of gifts every year like I was still a little boy.
My problem is the same as some here- I get a bunch of stuff I will never use, want, or need instead of anything I can use, want, or, need. I don't even bother with lists- too old for that stuff but I really wish she would stop wasting money on this junk. If she MUST get me something, at least make it ONE thing I can use.
Gotta love moms but there is no logic.

think my mom would get me nothing but crap but I always head it off. I was visiting this last weekend and showed her a bunch of stuff I need/want. Books, shoes, electronics, work cloths, etc.
Oh did you guys know they re-released the old transformer toys? Maybe I should ask for one of those haha.
