Read the book a few years ago. Was excited to hear that there is a movie coming out next year. Anyone else interested in this?

Botany

Well, well. I'm sure there are multiple threads about this already, but I can't find them. I also believe that this is design-relevant, very much so indeed.

Anywayz, I'm geeking out on something new this week. Ethnopharmacology. And I am really in love with all the cacti and succulents that have psychoactive properties. Not that I use them, no that would be not good, but I am an avid greenthumb. Anyone here on the QBN have an experience growing the Lopho or the S. Pedro? Suggestions on where to obtain such specimens in the US? What else is out there? Anyone have growing experience. I've been looking mainly at cacti and succulents, but the list of plants goes on and on. (Iboga, Ayahuasca, Acacia...)

I was really inspired by a lecture that Fred Tomaselli gave, he was talking how his garden contained all kinds of plants (intended) for ritualistic and medicinal purposes.

when I moved in with the lady i tossed my prehistoric tv and am finding myself really annoyed with watching movies on the computer screen. was considering a new flat-screen, but wouldn't mind a projector. any recommendations for good projectors for the home cinema? somewhere < $1k

The Year Of The Flood

I keep going to the bookstore anticipating to buy Margaret Atwood's new book. Has anyone read it yet?

Edward Burtynsky

I just saw the documentary called Manufactured Landscapes. It's about Mr Burtynsky's work and the bottom line is: wow.
We are all going to the shits.
Watch it if you can. Very disheartening.

The Hoff

IMHO he's responsible for the re-uniting of Germany and the fall of Russia. If he weren't such a terrible drunk he'd take care of N.Korea and Iran as well.

Look at those happy krauts:

Most Wanted

Does anyone remember Ray Cokes from MTV's Most Wanted? I loved that show.
There was an episode (pobably '94) with M-Beat and General Levy doing a live rendition of "Incredible". Anyone remember that? Is there a link on the internets that will lead me to that particular a video of that session?
