A shame, from the article it semed they ran their business into the ground!

^^ That's not the impression I got for the article.

Ian put a positive spin on the closing, but it's still sad news. I discovered graphic design in high school and was so inspired by everything tDR did.

I wish I was there to help him chuck out all those paper samples. DR was an inspiration to me.

Sad news, I was once quite enamored with their work. Now it seems a bit quaint and ecstasy-fueled when I look back on it, but it did spawn Build, for whom I have quite a lot of respect.

I wonder if Ian became less hands-on involved as time went on, thus leading to the creative downslide. Less than perfect clients are not an excuse for poor design.

Man, so sad. TDR is one of the companies that inspired me to really get into the business long time ago.

Was there just 9 designers working at tdr or nine employees all up ? I don't understand how a company that small with such big clients could go under unless it's a engineered out on the founders part

I'd like to see a new tDR just like they were at the beginning...
Demands became big, expectations big, account depts grew...
working methods and graphics became standard and common as in a big design company / agency...
(as far as i could notice from reading and checking their work)

    awwwww shucks!

ironically, it looks like working for big clients in order to keep the studio going, ended up killing tDR... hopefully they'll bounce back with a smaller team, smaller clients and the same old great work.

I wonder if the written letter of rejection I got from them years ago will be worth anything more than knowing that if they had hired me back then, maybe this never would have happened...
