What music streaming service do you use?
wanna see what's the popular choice on QBN. Perhaps later on we can make QBN play lists and share amount us.
I know we had youtube play list. but shit gets deleted on there too often. And sound cloud doesn't have a whole lot imo...

Google music.

Spotify about five days a year. Otherwise, I get tips from blogs on what to buy / torrent. The streaming experience is still pretty dogshit IMO.

- Does it let you find specific songs and make a play list?
just just station?pango - I made playlist for previous years for user's best albums suggestions:

Pandora. Nothing else has stations that are anywhere near as good as the ones Pandora makes for you.
Looking at Amazon music, though. I'll look at Google, too, and it's integration with home stuff (and reduced costs - I was just reading how Amazon Prime's new music service could spark a price war)

fuck
should have mentioned this on the first post.Does it let you find specific songs and make a play list?
or just station generated according to the preference?- Amazon does both. Stations aren't as good as Pandora, imho, but they have them (and are just as good as Spotify). Amazon seems to have it all.formed

Soundcloud, Youtube and Apple Music are my go to places.

^ Sounds like Amazon and Google will be similar. Amazon has a basic version that is free with Prime (including Beatles), but I think they have a new one coming out that is $8/month for everything if you own an Alexa, $9 or something if you don't.
But this is where Google and Amazon will have the price war - getting you to buy their Home products to play their stations. Alexa already does this quite well, Sonos is using Alexa too.
I think Apple is going to slip fast, if you believe some of the recent articles on AI and Siri. They have been too slow to move into AI (and VR for that matter). I didn't think it would affect the music, but I can see it being nice to just say "Hey Alexa, play that song that goes "build a parking lot"" and it'll play the Counting Crows (the articles example of how "smart" it was at deciphering lyrics, etc.). Interesting. Gonna look at Alexa/Google Home Thing for xmas presents.

Are we talking about streaming music you own, or streaming radio stations? For radio stations, I like regular ones like KEXP or KCRW, or anything off of Soma FM.
For personal music, I keep 9 albums on my phone (or usb in the car) and one folder with a few mixes in it. I find if I do it like this and rotate things out, I don't go through the "endless scrolling" process to decide what to listen to.
- Good point. On an iPhone you can scroll to letters but you can't do that with your playlists and the same applies to Google Play. They ought to fix that.CyBrainX

I was planning on starting a QBN Best Albums 2016 thread with a Spotify playlist like the 2012 & 2014 versions. But I see that a 2016 thread was started 5 months ago.
Are yall's sticking with your original album suggestions?

I was 70rr3n71ng my music since years, but the ratio on the website i were was super hard to maintain, sometimes i was on ratio watch for months. I got really tired of this so i signed up with Google Play Music a month ago. I really really like it so far!
- Yo get on spotify! it really has better robust features.pango
- pango0
:/
doesn't seem like if I make a play list on Google music, other none-subscriber can listen to it...
Anyone know anything that has a good library and everyone (paid and unpaid) users can listen to the play list?
would be ideal so not everyone has to paid for something that's not their initially preferred streaming service.
- I'll be starting a new best of playlist the first week of November.ORAZAL
- pango0
Oh ok cool. Seems like you can listen to any songs(on their library) with out paying on Spotify.
Do they have shared Library thingy?
Then it would be perfect for shared play list on QBN.- They do: https://support.spot…ORAZAL
- Sweet! ok this is perfect. meets every criteria.pango
- pango0
Ok cool. Wanna do this monthly?
QBN Users submit tracks that's on spotify. And at the end of each month we put them together in to a list.or weekly?
and maybe a limit on how many track a user can submit per list... (i can foresee someone going all out on the first list already lol)Seem like spotify is the best way for everyone now. (wasn't available in canada...)
- Maybe start another thread shortly once the idea is finalized.pango
- If there is monthly list I would propose that some reset it every month otherwise there would be too many playlist to follow.ORAZAL
- I think it would be hard to limit how much people add on the lists, that's why I chose to manage the yearly ones. But collab sounds good for monthly.ORAZAL
- I see.....
I assume you can save the list to your own library.pango - Yes, you follow playlists. Let me know if want to test a collab playlist. You have my spotify user on those lists I posted.ORAZAL
- You know how it is with people here and rules lol. well lets just say it's general guide line.pango
- I know. Those unruly fuckers need fences.
They're cute little critters though.ORAZAL - just took a look at more features. (first time using spotify today) i'm not entirely sure how to create a list from a existing list you're following...pango
- Try with this one:
https://open.spotify…ORAZAL - lol... thanks?pango
- can you turn on collaborate?pango
- I did. http://imgur.com/Nh0…ORAZAL
- Try making your temp collaborative and I'll see if I can add something.ORAZAL
- Woot! It's working.ORAZAL
- but i can't make collaborate play list. probably cuz i didn't pay... and i can't make a new list out of existing list... can you?pango
- You can drag all the songs from a public playlist to a different one (right pane to list one the left) to make a copy.ORAZAL
- I could make a public collaborative playlist for QBN. But I would keep a single one and remove all the songs monthly. 1/2ORAZAL
- People who find stuff they like can copy it to their personal playlists. 2/2ORAZAL
- btw... "all covered in red" hurts my ear.... wtf was that? lolpango
- that will have to do
!!!pango - the dragging thing doesn't work for me... again probably cuz free version and web player... let me test it out on desk top.pango
- yup yup yup! works on desk top. You can save existing playlist by dragging all the tracks to another play list.pango
- https://open.spotify…pango
In case you want to use it. I'll let you create the thread though.ORAZAL - I'll erase the QBN one I made and leave you the honor :)ORAZAL
- Just found out i can create collab list too. just gotta do it on desk top. I'm thinking create 2 list. This way it give people time to save track.pango
- otherwise tracks posted on the 31th will get erased the next day.pango
- Something like Odd month and Even month.pango
- Good idea. Looking forward to it.
I promise I won't add any more Dreamcrusher.ORAZAL - Will do that tomorrow.pango
- https://67.media.tum…ORAZAL
- "Will do that tomorrow" - LOL
This shit turned out just like that Strava running group I set up for you.
Get a hold of yourself pango!ORAZAL

- srsly tho... got albums cued up on youtube all day, the AAC streams in HD videos sound better than anything else i've used.kingsteven
- proper steaming service plays on mobile devices too. youtube play list on apple TV and phone is a pain... also better library with out restriction.pango
- i get ya, also shitty with chromecast but slightly better on the ps4// hoping they sort it out soon. adding individual videos + re-ordering tracks = nightmarekingsteven

I want a streaming service that allows you to search through music like IMDB does with films. You know; who's in the band, who they've collaborated with, who the producer is and overall, which fucking label they're on. It's frustrating you can't even search by record label at least.
Or can you do this on Spotify now?
- it's got biography, related artist, upcoming concert date.
does record label still matter? spotify probably felt that database is none essential.pango - especially you can just google it...
although producers field would be nice to have.pango - there was a discogs app for spotify at one point but they killed it. discogs + youtube still the best for me.kingsteven
- You can do search by label:
https://play.spotify…ORAZAL - On some artists you will also have a biography with links to people they collaborated with and a related artists tab.ORAZAL
- it's got biography, related artist, upcoming concert date.

For the record, Amazon Music is – in my opinion – rubbish. Mostly nothing on there I want to listen to, all chart crap.
