Greetings fellow young designers.
My 10yr old is going to start walking home from school.
It's only about one mile but I wanted to track her incase she gets abducted or distracted.I'm against her having a phone until senior school so was thinking about something like an Air Tag in her bag. But the website says it beeps if too far away from my phone which would be a problem in class. Is that true and do any of you know a better solution?

Got one a few years ago for taking our kid to London for the same reasons. Doesn't beep when it's too far away from your phone. You can make it beep when it's in the general area of your phone to find it. The only thing is, when its away from your phone, I think it relies on other peoples iPhones being around to relay information. So if its in the middle of nowhere it's not very useful - I may be wrong though
- this is correctSimonFFM
- You are right it does rely on Apple phone users but I'm confident it's coverage is enough.Hayzilla
- If there's coverage chances are high that there will be someone with an iPhone nearby.
Otherwise you can get her a GPS tracking watch.palimpsest - in a school that's a big ifhans_glib
- No iPhones in school?palimpsest
- I'm not worried about her in school. It's when she's walking the mean streets of rural Berkshire on the way home I'm looking to cover.Hayzilla
- It worked a treat BTW guys.Hayzilla

You can get a watch, we were considering

She'll be fine, Leonardo Dicaprio doesn't live in Berkshire.

Is this something most parents would consider?

I think a watch is actually a better shout than an airtag.
If anything was to happen, even a tumble down a steep hill, it's likely she would be separated from her schoolbag containing the tag whereas a watch would still be around her wrist.

watch is more fun. I'd start with a cheap one, there's plenty of gps watches for kids, and upgrade with time.
