Is there a particular set of tutorials - paid or free that you would recommend?
I feel like a lot of the YouTube stuff is somewhat all over the place.
Could you recommend a decent learning path please?
Thank you

"cap cut" is all over the place i see.
i am not sure if tik tok or cap cut fails and reboots my iphone many times. anyone has the same problem?back to after effects: just start a new project you're interested. do it from scratch and you will learn a lot. there are also tons of ytube tutorials free on every corner. warning: AE can be very time consuming and if you're stop you will forget things until the next project. so documenting important ninja moves and shortcuts is a good thing to do.

lol, this is exactly how I asked here about a decade ago.
I don't think "pirate Lynda tutorials" is still a good option. Find a youtube channel with a non-annoying voice, and then just practice.
A better question would be "which way are you trying to learn?"

do tutorials from
evan abrams -> evanabrams.com
andrew cramer -> videocopilot.netand for introduction...adobe has some decent stuff:
https://helpx.adobe.com/after-ef…- https://www.youtube.…uan
- +1 to evan abramsduckseason
- +1 Andrew KramerYakuZoku
- Both of those guys are great but you have to wade through about 50% bad schtick from Andrew Kramer. He is unbearably full of himself.CyBrainX
- + for these two too. Evan Abrams still sounds like Max Headroom.MrT

Start here:
Learn what all the effects do. Once you've through those, you are 90% there.
- ah... was supposed to be posting the entire playlist, ah well check him out on YT.shapesalad
- < I went through all his videos while drying dishes, was a great refresher.shapesalad

Once you know the effects, learn how to combine them:
Then learn what you need for the project you have in mind. Then, next project - learn what you need... repeat. I'm still learning things today, after many projects and years.
You soon realise to do the really cool stuff you need to learn 3D too and splurge a load of money on plugins like Stardust $250 etc.
- This is to the learn the software, to learn motion design - actually design, composition, illustration, animation, timing, pacing, narrative = School of motionshapesalad

Have a few co-workers who have taken courses at School of Motion and enjoyed em.
