I totally get the benefits of working with teams etc. I get the thrill of working with a great team as well.
But just stop for a minute and think about what you are sacrificing by cramming yourselves into your kanban boards, stand-ups, etc.
The methods you take on are there to make you a frictionless component. Knowing how to take action and make things becomes your value. Even if you have your own vision—that is for someone else to put forth somewhere up the hierarchy.
That's why I hate teamwork. 99% of the time it's synthetic and the output is not satisfying. The artistry is gone.

I think if we all come together to brainstorm this whole teamwork problem, we'll come to a satisfactory answer, together.
I've had moments like that but have also worked in teams, especially with videographers that were fantastic. I'm in motion graphics so most of my work is a solo effort anyway. When I get to collaborate it's more of an exception, so it feels like a novelty.

At the end of a 16 month project. With now 19 people involved in teams spanning multiple time zones on both sides, running the contact sometimes requires to wake up Saturday at 3:30-4:30.
Today I'm done with this after 2.5 hours spent on checking the weekly tasks, going trough the schedule/availability for next month, a recap on an emergency situation what highlighted a problem, zoom our C guy who is in SA while having a really good laugh and getting non-demanding work done.
I enjoy this kind of teamwork.
- We both manage our team fully in line, nothing went sideways, budget didn't run out of hand, stakeholders are happy so far.sted

i think it's a matter of expertise. having a team of five art directors is a goddamned nightmare, but a team with an art director, a programmer, a fabricator, an electrical engineer, and a sculptor just makes me horny to think about
Not sure what field you’re in but in UX / Product Design, I find collaboration invaluable. It has very little to do with the vision of an individual designer and everything to do with what best facilitates the user get their job done. Egos best left at the door.

Before we get back to the office in March they're being turned into collaboration spaces and other wank words that make my face peel off from rolling my eyes at the speed of light. I don't want to collaborate. Collaborate means talking instead of getting it done, so when does it get done?

Certain work, certain projects, yes - cross discipline collaboration can work, when team members are experts within their fields and there's absolutely no overlap in terms of skills, and the team is 100% doers - no chin waggers.
Otherwise, rather than have 10 peoples time on a project, give all that time to one person.
