They're going to get ruined and look like shit - live aboard people have them all patched up in the harbor. I understand transportation is an issue - see what other GTi folks do.

I recommend a Kaboat. They are cheaper than this garbage and they are super high quality.

I’ve used a frameless inflatable ‘sevylor’ in the past but wouldn’t recommend as it folds in half a bit when on the water. Very cheap and portable though. Inflation is only really viable with an electric pump.No experience with this product. But the price is right. https://tucktec.com/

Hiking with one in a pack? Are you crazy my friend?
They are 11kg and take up 140L!

I remember qbner canoe being clued-up on these things. Didn't he carve his own kayak, or am I thinking of someone else?

I have a sit on top two seater. I have no experience with the folding ones, but I can say that it won't be a lot longer that I will be putting that thing on top of my Tundras camper shell. I see a lot of folding and inflatable kayaks at the places we go (harbors and lakes). Keep us posted, and maybe this will become the go to place on QBN for kayaking.

Those orukayak look like shit, only thing I can say don't buy that expensive crap.
- Have you seen most plastic kayaks? Ugh. And they're all 50lbs+ and need to be transported. And you basically need a launch within 100ft of wherever you park.5timuli
- But if you have any good suggestions... maybe? I'm open, but prefer the flexibility of launching from wherever.5timuli
- Plus most non-folding kayaks—while durable—aren't much less expensive, or are more expensive than the Oru.5timuli
- For they were good and solid. Expensive yeah but convenient. Prob not for white water action but bays and rivers, fine.MrT
- Yeah, I'm looking for the lightweight Uberpussymode kayaking experience. Slide into an Oregon lake a couple of miles from a trailhead.5timuli

I'm keen when I can. Usually hire but have also been considering Oru after trying the Inlet model a couple of years ago. The local distributer was doing promo trials in Sydney harbour. They were awesome if a bit eye-watering on the $AU.
I had a good look around (at the time) and these were easily the best option if you wanted a folding one for adults who want a proper paddle.
Not sure how long they'll last compared to solid/moulded ones but the obvious convenince, flat pack size and weight were incredible.

Anyone here into it? I'm thinking about picking up a couple of these for me and the wife:

Sticking a couple of big kayaks on top of the GTi doesn't sound like fun, so these seem like a good compromise. Plus you can hike with them in a pack.
Looking for something recreational that we can maybe stick a small dog (or two) inside.
Anyone have any other good suggestions?
