Anyone visited or lived north of Barcelona or in Girona? My wife was offered a job there.
I've been there many times as a tourist. A lovely town, possibly a bit boring but I've never been there in any other capacity than having some time to kill before a connecting bus or flight. The Jewish old town is neat.
It seemed a bit quiet but Barcelona is nearby if you want to party and there are plenty of places right next on the coast where I'd spend most of my weekends if I lived there. Cadaques, where Dali lived is one of them and really awesome and close.
Not sure where you're coming from, but I'd encourage my wife to take that job :)
We are talking about it today. We lived in Barcelona for a while but her job fell through. She seems more excited about this than anything I've ever seen her excited about... and living in Spain was kind of the original idea.
Cadaques sounds special. We've been to Valle de Nuria and stopped at a village on the way there. The Pyrennes are extraordinary.
Lived in Barcelona in the early 2ks and went to Girona a couple times on my way through the Pyrenees. As raf said it could be a bit boring but it’s a great hub for taking off from to other parts of Spain.
It’s right next to Garrotxa, and steps from the Pyrenees which I’d spend every minute I could in if I were making the move.
Good luck and remember you can always move back!
Girona is a mecca for professional road cyclists, from all over the world. They live & train there in off-season
