Take each client on a case-by-case basis.
Help clients understand.
1. The different levels of compliance
2. The cost to bring their site(s) up to the desired level(s)
3. The risks associated with ignoring it
4. The business case for accessibility. This is an opportunity to make the web a better place while generating some work for yourself.

Apparently this is back on the rise. We have a few clients that have gotten lawsuits. What is everyone else doing to battle this?

All public institutions in Canada had to go accessible by this year I think, AA compliant minimum. I think by 2025 AAA is expected.

https://web.dev/ gives a nice report that calls out accessibility issues, as well as other suggestions to help with site speed and SEO.
https://www.w3.org/WAI/standards… lists the actual rules. generally level AA is the minimum needed to avoid a lawsuit.
90% of accessibility is really just good design and development. if you have decent font sizes and contrast ratios, and follow good coding practices you should be pretty close to meeting everything.

I had to do this years back for a hospital,
rough rule of thumb, make sure they can access everything via keyboard, try to avoid shit like accordions & hamburgers unless they can toggle the content via keyboard.this was a while back, maybe shit changed
