Drawing, cycling, cooking, music listening... I can not practice my passions all I want, coz I work a load of hours a day, but ey, sometimes, my work is part of my passions too...

But being sincere, after thinking on it, my wife is my biggest passion on life

  • BrokenHD0

my two boys, nature, writing raps, art. everything I do is to get back to these 4 things.

i just like to get my dick wet. keep it basic

Many passions... but the latest trend is more of a re passion... weekend mornings usually include buying and listening to a full length LP from start to finish while doing other shit like cooking or cutting wood.

I feel like I get something out of the experience... I'm not sure how to put into words, but it feels different than a morning of random music...

Man, what a simple and difficult question. I have several, and making time for them has been a challenge and a recurring conversation with a therapist I started seeing over the summer.

If I take my kids out of the equation, my main passions that are regular things are exercise/fitness, music making and photography. Snowboarding is a 1-2 times a year thing that I love more than anything else but it's not a regular thing. If I had my way, I'd spend every waking minute working on music, recording, writing songs, etc.

If I add my kids to the equation, being a parent, and striving to be a great parent raising good little humans should be my main passion. I mean, it is, but often sub-consciously, like most parents because it's always there as a goal and action.

But what I really struggle with these days is that balance of personal passions with family passions. I've found that I generate a lot of undue stress by over-committing in my mind to what ends up being very limited time for music. Then I get agitated and tense that I didn't use that time I try to give myself. Then I get stressed because I think "none of that should really matter, my kids should be my #1 thing always and above everything else." Then I get stressed when I think that would be unfair to not allow myself time for myself to do thing things I personally love. It's a real struggle to figure it all out.

Exercise and fitness, on the other hand, that's the main personal thing I really benefit from staying committed to. I know that I'd be outrageously stressed out if I just stopped working out. So I make the time for that without fail 3-4 times a week whether it's riding my Peloton or lifting weights.

But yeah... if you really want to know, it's making music. I've been playing guitar for 25+ years, my band came and went in the 2000's, and since 2010 I've been focused on ambient and instrumental music. My dream and goal is to find my way into more instrumental film score work, stuff I create that most people I'm around would be surprised to know I made. Stuff that my good musical friends would say "YES, that's EXACTLY what I'd expect from you." There's an underlying passion of emotion through a lot of what I do whether it's music or photography, or professionally, moving into a more content focused, storytelling phase as a UX designer for a content marketing agency. When it comes to music, finding these moods and such that are thick with emotion, feel like they belong in films and such, that's a huge focus for me.

    • I wish I had more time for music also, I put myself up for one task to be completed before Christmas. Making a shorter list that is way more focused has helpedcanoe
    • me visualize what and WHY I'm working on this one specific task/project... rather than fucking around all the time.canoe
    • You have to purposely fall onto a project by spending your social time around those people, and your dreams will appear imhocanoe
    • I would like to hear your music mg!Bennn

About to open our first shop as a front to the studio, feels like it’s the only way to get eyeballs on the stuff we make in the ‘personal project’ time, and something we’ve wanted to do for a long time now - Our two boys are so excited, they’ve been planning and making, decorating, using power tools... great family project, we homeschool as well so it’s a great way of teaching them real world stuff. Plus I spend more time with the people I love...

I have no passions whatsoever. None. Used to...but they've been sucked out of me. I'm dead inside.

    Cooking. And now my family.

  • aslip5

It's been a killer summer for passions. I spent a lot of time with my family out at the race track for my son's karting and also squeezed in a furniture build this year. Passionate about real estate investing and teaching others too. So many things I still want to get into and not enough time.

Running, cycling, sex, music, food, drink; a general sense of "living in the moment".

Being impulsive even though I know it's not sustainable.

    : )

    • ...THAT being said, i'm married with 2 sons and a full time job; with some flexibility (only on the job).

      Lolz.

My kid's (7 y/o) Flag Football team. I coach the defense and it's insanely fun. The night before games I have trouble sleeping. I plan new defensive strategies based on what the other teams offensive tendencies are. I have 4 different defenses I've designed, and this season we ended up in 2nd place with a really young team for the division they're in. I come up with cool position names like: Bull, Doom, Havoc, Eagle and Brain. I tie shoes, clean noses, fix belts, and even have a stash of candy in case someone gets hurt. I'm really obsessed, but in a positive way. I'm not 'that' dad, even though I'm really serious about it. I even told my wife that I think I might coach even after my son outgrows it.

Some of these coaches are assholes to the kids. In fact last season right before a tournament a kid on my team told me, "that coach made me cry once." Bummed me out. One of my proudest moments in coaching was watching that kid - who I coached for two seasons - almost single handedly shut that coach's team out that day - not one fucking point.

All the kids on our current team are amazing, I don't just mean athletically either. We have a couple kids who aren't like the others. Simply not that athletic, and maybe just a little odd. One kid, I'll call him Bob, can't throw or catch, and barely contributes to the game of football - but he's got a great personality. Whenever we're standing around, he's always wanting to throw the ball back and forth. Athletically though, he's almost like a newly born giraffe. We practiced for a solid month before our first game this season, and Bob was added to our team a couple games into the season. He didn't get the same bonding time the other kids got, but they love Bob like a brother. At practice a few weeks ago we were running a drill and what to you know Bob caught a pass! Three defenders started running at him to pull his flags and all the other kids - spontaneously - blocked the defenders (not part of the drill). Bob scores a touchdown, falls to the grass, and one of the kids (same kid from the previous story) jumps on top of him and starts yelling, "You did such a good job!!!!!!!!" I'm basically loosing it at this point, trying not to cry, and fucking failing. I one-hundred-fucking-percent love each and every one these kids like they're my own.

Tomorrow is our last practice of the season, and Saturday is our end of year tournament. I'm going to really miss it.

I've been doing a lot of shrooms lately. Not full doses. Maybe like 1/4 to 1/3 dose. Not full on visual trips. But more mellow and contemplative. Headphones on music and just chill for hours. Been doing this almost every weekend for past 3 months. It makes a great reset to the week. So yes, I think I am passionate about it. It's pretty much my favorite thing right now.

    • what kind of music?Krassy
    • Micro dosing, eh? I agree on the "resetting" effect of the drug. It's fantastic AND upon full dosing can get pretty scary...ideaist
    • @krassy no specific genre. Anything sonic. Been really into Gizz lately.DRIFTMONKEY
    • @idealist Slightly more than microdosing. I am getting high. Just not tripping.DRIFTMONKEY
