My understanding is that batch processing image files uses more CPU resources.
While GPU handles displaying live response of edites/effects.

- Phew! Good, some one agrees with me.pango
- so does that mean processor over dedicated graphics?craigatkinson
- If they're just editing one photo and batch the rest, I'd say cpu. If they edited a lot of photos individually or complex, GPU.pango
- probably makes sense to get a decent cpu AND gpu so that it lasts awhilemonospaced

Not required, but you get extra performance oomph from compatible GPUs.
Best thing is a high RAM overheard and, if possible, two HDs (scratch SSD & another SSD/Spinning Rust for general swappery)
Thinkpads can be decent workhorses too, but Dells come well recommended (even if they are a bit beige)
- This looks like it might be good, if you can get the 16Gb version..

The XPS15 is going to be near the top of performance for laptops. The CPU in it (assuming you are looking at the i7 modeal) is quite a bit better than the XPS13.
