"Tether Hit With $41 Million Fine for Lying About Dollar Reserves: CFTC
Its sister company, crypto exchange Bitfinex, was also hit with a $1.5 million fine by the CFTC."
- Tether estimated last time they released "reserves" numbers that they only have $160M in real cash reserves so these fines bring them a little closer to the endgrafician

- thanks for this, checked qbn before bed and ended up making some good trades i would have missed :Dkingsteven

Bloomberg is doing an expose on Tether lol

"DeFi bug accidentally gives $90 million to users, founder begs them to return it"
"- About $90 million has mistakenly gone out to users of Compound, a popular decentralized-finance staking protocol, and the founder is begging users to voluntarily return the tokens.
“- Keep 10% as a white-hat. Otherwise, it’s being reported as income to the IRS, and most of you are doxxed,” Robert Leshner, founder of Compound Labs, tweeted late Thursday."

This is interesting...
Twitter launches crypto tipping for all users
https://cointelegraph.com/news/t…
People can now seamlessly tip with Bitcoin using Strike – a payments application built on the Bitcoin Lightning Network that allows people to send and receive Bitcoin. Strike offers instant and free payments globally.
Strike is available to people in El Salvador and the U.S. (excluding Hawaii and New York).
- I've been wondering when a real use case for crypto other than speculation would take off. How many other sites will adopt something like this?yuekit
- I saw a video a while back of a guy in S.America buying a beer with BTC via Strike and I must admit, I was impressed.
Like a 2c fee, or something.Nairn - this here..
https://old.reddit.c…Nairn - Of course ^this isn't using the actual blockchain itself for the transaction, so the novelty is pretty futile in those terms. Still, anything to fuck Visa et alNairn
- Personally I think the EU should mandate a digital/Card replacement for Visa that runs profit-free and then let the 'Brussels-effect' spread its wings globally.Nairn
- Too little to late lol
@jack a jackassgrafician - @Nairn you want digital coin so the government can see whatever you do with your money and cancel you whenever they want?
What a toolgrafician - but then again we have the network replacement for Visa, it's called cashgrafician
- < they did this because that TIPS feature was only used to tip about $6K since introduction = it was BIG FAILUREgrafician
- oh wait my bad it was the Super followers feature that failed
this tipping thing is...the same, but new?! lolgrafician - The first rule of Bitcoin club is:
don't spend your Bitcoindrgs - > What a tool
Thank Goodness you've never purchased using Visa, MasterCard, AE or whatever your local Digi Scheme is. Thank goodness!Nairn - where is the tip button for limmy to say purple burglar alarm?sted
- No, just saying your ideas about how to run the financial markets is silly
Also whatever the EU launches, you're not affected anymore, you had your Brexit matesgrafician - Circulation is the only glorysted
- So you don't know what the Brussels Effect is, and you're not understanding the very simple point I'm making about a Visa replacement, Gotcha.Nairn
- You know that your precious EU worked to ensure the Visa/MC duopoly (American cos) was able to guarantee higher %s across the board a few years back?Nairn
- it's cute that you do a bit of design work for some backwater fintech and are somehow a finance oracle. Perhaps you're wasting your time here?Nairn
- Yes, I AM wasting my time here ofc
But I come here for the lols
Like in this case - a Brit - complaining about something everybody gets except themgrafician - Also in this case UK left the EU especially because of EU laws governing finance - you're governed by a corupt bunch that don't want to pay taxes mategrafician
- Christ, you're a puddle of halfwit stupidity.Nairn
- You really have no clue about things going on in your own country mate, do you?
Like I said, coming here for the lolsgrafician - If you'd ever paid more attention to the Brexit thread beyond your own projection, you'd know that a lot of us Brits are very much aware of the shit...Nairn
- ..dripping down from the upper echelons. But there's a lot more besides - as in most of life, things aren't quite as neatly polarised as you'd like to believe.Nairn

- I pick muh freedoms.palimpsest
- sounds like the move they did with google, fb and co... it led to a bunch of successful domestic developed services.uan
- I trust this interest in BTC means we won't have any more whinging about packaging waste from you, shapesalad?Nairn
- How many crypto investors are left in China? Didn't the government already ban both mining and crypto exchanges months ago?yuekit
- Crypto IS communism as it's promising equality, freedom and decentralisation WHILE offering nepotism, whales and centralised controlgrafician
- @yuekit yes and now they ban transactions too so that's itgrafician

China controls something like 65-70% of the crypto infrastructure.
China also has a really big construction company that just defaulted on its $300B debt (about the market cap of Disney or Bank of America), causing the global financial industry to puke in its mouth a bit. They've also been selling 'wealth management products' that it's not really clear if they are included in that $300B.
I imagine the two are connected somehow. Lots of people borrow to invest, and when one of your investments goes to zero, the others get sold to cover.
- That’s how large market trends work in general. A huge industry impact causes other selloffs to cover, etc. Even economy and jobs reports do this.monospaced

Anyone tried stoic.ai ?

- The benefit is I’ve spent less time playing with bots since I installed this and I don’t have to research every weird alt coin -SlashPeckham
- I've been trying to read up on this because I really like the idea of it. I've been seeing that it was great in the bullish times, but suffered during...Wolfboy

- I think I'm going to dip my toe in at some point in the next month or two.Wolfboy
- It performs really well in a bear market by hedging more into USDT.... actually did better than hodling BTC or ETHSlashPeckham

"Ethereum Faces Chain Split as Node Operators Fail to Update Geth Hotfix
Geth is the most relied upon software to connect to the Ethereum blockchain."
"Ethereum is experiencing a chain split due a number of network validators, also called nodes, failing to upgrade their software.
On Aug. 24, the developer team behind the popular Ethereum software client Geth released an emergency hotfix to a security vulnerability in its code that would have prevented certain users from producing blocks.
The Go Ethereum team had disclosed a vulnerability on Aug. 18, saying they would release a patch, but did not specify the exact nature of the vulnerability in an effort to prevent an attack:"
