Is Linkedin valuable to you? Do you get leads or work from it?

is there a real question or this is just an other thread you start with a question mark?

I'm on it and I fucking hate it. Really really invasive.
I do it mainly to add in reciters so my current job knows I'm still open to other job offers! This is the only main stream (aka government monitored) I'm on and am thinking of getting off once and for all.
But its a tool and like all tools what you put into it is what you get out of it.
- I assume you meant 'recruiters'?Continuity
- yeah! Thanks!mugwart

I'm going to join mugwart in the 'I hate LinkedIn' camp.
Not only is it invasive, but it's saturated with 'solve if ur a genius lolz' posts, and other assorted rubbish that belongs on Facebook. That, and all of those insufferable photos PPT slides projected on a wall at some conference most people have never heard of, and clichéd saccharine 'inspirational' quotes. Ugh.
The long and the short of it: try as I might, I've never got work from it. It's by no means a networking magic bullet. Any leads or work I've ever got, I did the old-fashioned way: phone calls and email. LinkedIn has had absolutely no positive impact on my business life in the 10 years I've been on it, despite using it in the way 'LinkedIn experts' (har har, please) have been recommending people use it for networking.
Does that answer your question, fredddddd?

i've been on it forever, but never bothered with it.
they've lost my email address and on the odd occasion i log in there's a ton or messages whining that their emails aren't getting thru. oh dear, tough.
i never allowed it anywhere near my address book, and use buffer to spam my feed.
so no.

Linkedin is 98.7% desperate fucks with ego issues.
The other 28% are people who don't know how to interpret the avalanche of useless statistics.

Just had a client in who dropped in to chat that we went to the same university, which perplexed the shit out of me, until I remembered that I did once upon a time mention it on my long-redundant LinkedIn profile.
So, here in this context, it was a useful conversational hook. Otherwise creepy as heck.
I need to get around to deleting it sometime.

Some fucker in India's decided to set up a company page for my business, so I'm having to sign-up to LinkedIn - the account of which I literally closed last month - just so that I can report the fucker.
What a glorious waste of my time! I wonder how long he's had it, the snide fucker... and big thanks to LinkedIn to taking exactly zero steps to verify his identification.
Jesus Christ. I hate all this social media shite.
- i feel like every one of your posts should end with https://youtu.be/Ag1…kona
- Huh, despite having signed in after the 20 days that they said they'd keep my stuff on file... LinkedIn still had all my details. Odd.detritus

I find LinkedIn incredibly slippery.
So some guy is able to set up a company page without any validation? Not right.
When I closed my account last month, I was sent an email saying that I could re-start my account within 20 days, thereafter it would be deleted. I signed in again today - 24 days later - and all my details were still on file. OK, it's only 4 days difference - but OK, these are computer databases, they don't care whether it's 20 days plus one second, or 2000 days. So I was lied to.
And now I see 'Free Upgrade to Premium' in the top corner - perhaps it's one of those special offers, so I click and have a look. I choose a plan and read down to the bottom and.. it's a free trial, not a free upgrade. The two things are distinctly different propositions.
I'll keep the account, for now, but I'm doubly hesitant to commit any value to it, because like most social media sites: it'[s not for me, it's for them.
Long live independent social media, like QBN and all the other wee private forums and stuff running off open Protocols like IRC or Mastodon. Fuck all the rest of that shit - it's not got our benefit in mind.
- ok, my profile's connections have been reset - they're all lined up to reinstigate though.detritus

OK, now all I'm doing is reading up on how incredibly successful all the people I've ever cared about have become.
I'm going to have to go get some ice cream, light white wine, a hot water bottle and curl up on the sofa and weep like i'm premenstrual.
I hate social media.

I've got no issue with it at all. Lately I've been using it more and more, maybe once a day, because I follow a few UX feeds, and I've got several former colleagues who are active in sharing good articles. I follow stuff like that on FB too, but on LinkedIn it's pretty narrowly focused for me.

Content on AOL is even better than Linkedin.
