Apple experts, advice...

  Hey there,

  I know almost nothing about Apple products anymore. I've got one of these MacBook Air laptops though. It's about a year old (maybe not quite a year) and I just now put my hand on the power socket / plug and the plug and socket are as hot as f*ckery. I could almost burn my hand on the laptop casing round the socket.

  Any precedent for this kind of thing? Any known causes? What is the likely outcome in time?

  Any suggestions welcome.

  unplug it when the battery is charged, eat some organic hummus and it will cool down.

  ((it's normal, the adaptors get very warm during use))

  you could be using the wrong power voltage to charge computer

  • It seems to have calmed down now and is quite cool. I wonder if there was some grubbage in the socket that was causing a hot short.Muncher
  • (to which I'll add that there WAS grubbage in the socket, but I dont know if this was the problem exactly, but it's cool again now)Muncher
