The only reason to go to NYC is this:
There are 8 MILLION people there who can suck your cock.
I know this, because they can all suck mine.
<sigh>
There are a ton of great places to go there, from something as small as The Pickle Guys near Alphabet City to the NYPL to Columbus Circle...it's all worth a look. The food can't be beaten: if you like steak, check out Staghorn or Homestead or Benjamin, and if you prefer something else you aren't short on choices. Hallo Berlin in Hell's Kitchen, Magnolia Bakery in Greenwich are must-do's. Little Italy's a block long, so pass on that. Burp Castle in East Village is a must after 2100, Midtown Comics M-F (but not Sa-Sun), grab key lime pie in Brooklyn, dinner at Green Fields in Corona (Queens), walk from Pier 11 to the Intrepid and fuck everything north of 61st and you will fit right in, regardless of skin hue.
Take the train everywhere; cab not.

As a few folk have said, just walk around.
My wife and I went for part of our honeymoon. Some days we had an itinerary we planned to stick to but never got round to half of the shit we wanted to see and do because there's so much else to see and do - so many distractions as you wander.

- Yep so if you are part of illuminati make sure to use the entrance marked "Illuminati Only" because that line up is sometimes much shorter.nb

wait, you've never been to nyc? damn son!
listen to all of the above ^
my only add (which was stated before but whatever), take the time to just walk around. fuck a train/taxi/uber. take your time and venture through the city on foot. like SF, NYC is pretty manageable to walk through in a day (take notes and research when you get back to your hotel or wherever you are staying-and then spend the rest of your days going back to places that interest you). do the same if you want to see the best shit in brooklyn.
here is one man's take on walking:http://www.huffingtonpos...
although still a bit touristy ^ it offers up a logistical path through NYC.
- hmm-link seems to be broken. try this one http://www.huffingto…lvl_13
- yes, walk most places if you can ... it'll be either freezing cold or brisk in early 2018.monospaced
- For walking, go downtown, The Village, Lower East Side, Soho, TriBeCa. Avoid midtown.CyBrainX

Not sure if you want to think about work, but there's a super dope movie poster gallery/shop if you want to check out some originals:
https://posteritati.com/
Saw John Tuturo here one day...I also second the highline mentioned. Plus Chelsea has a ton of galleries - some good, some...well, it's "art" so personal opinion are strong hehe.
If you hit Guggenheim, it's sometimes fun to start at the top and walk down the spiral...
Pizza - Always been a fan of Arturo's on the corner of West Houston (corner of Thompson) https://www.yelp.com/biz/arturos…
They usually have a little jazzy sort of band with a piano...Toy Tokyo is fun to get lost in:

You have to hit the Highline, most amazing thing in NYC!
The elevated park completely changes around ever bend...plenty of street art, architecture, performance art, plant design, nature, food and hot ass prowling on the tracks.
- If you don't go there you are a fucking moron.utopian

- this is a fairly new thing, yeah? i feel like i saw concept art for it a few years backscarabin
- it's like 6 years old now ... but it looks better each year as the plantings and trees have grown and filled in :)monospaced

Manhattan is a grid, and the streets are easy to find.
Get to Time Square and walk on 5th ave down to Soho. Make a turn And come back through 6th or 8th ave.Repeat the next day the other way around, going up to Central Park.
- You'll walk a lot and see a lot. Restaurants, Museums, different neighborhoods. I don't know...Maaku
- I don't recommend times sq unless you must go through it to see a show. 5th avenue just has a bunch of stores you already have in LA.monospaced
- Combine Central Park with a visit to the Met.monospaced
- ^ or that. I left 9 years ago anyways, tf I know.Maaku

2nd ave deli is good. But if you're gonna visit New York and do the Matzo Ball soup thing, Kat's Delicatessen should be first on the list of orgazmic luncheons to get you in the mood.
- noted!scarabin
- That place gave me the shitz more than once!utopian
- This place is one massive tourist trap because of that movie. Not bad but it is certainly not the only deli in town. 2nd Ave is more of a locals kinda place.monospaced
- If you go to 2nd Ave. Deli, just remember it's on 3rd Ave. Rent in this city has some weird consequences.CyBrainX
- Hahaha, so true. It's now on 33rd St, off 3rd :)monospaced

Find a good Jewish deli and get yourself a proper bowl of matzo ball soup and split a sandwich. It's very NYC.
-- If you like good design then visit Russ&Daughters cafe (the new one). Pretty impeccable design, and great food. Just dont buy caviar. Unless youre loaded.- I haven't tried that one. 2nd Avenue Deli isn't far from my apartment, and it's legit.monospaced

If you're in Manhattan, definitely check out the High Line Park one day/evening, starting up at 31st and ending around 14th in the Meatpacking District where you can look around and get food/drinks. Yeah, it's touristy there, but it's worth it.

The Daryl Roth theater that housed the Fuerza Bruta show has this brand new show now called In & Of Itself, which is probably pretty rad. http://www.darylroththeatre.com/… I'm planning to check it out eventually.
Catch a late show at the Comedy Cellar after spending time exploring the Lower East Side and the Villages. If you go on a weeknight and you might even see some SNL cast members trying out new material. This happens at least half the time I go.
If I think of anything else, I'll post. Let me know if you have questions.
- great advice, thanks!scarabin
- drop by, let's have a session :)monospaced
- I will second the High Line. Bring a camera too. You can meet famous comics at the Comedy Cellar and the bar next door after the show.CyBrainX
- We affectionately refer to the High Line as the Euro Parade. Such a great stroll through the city, with great views of the history and the future, and people.monospaced

Are you trying to class it up?
Want to do the touristy thing or ...A little of both?
Or paths less traveled?
