- These are pure fucking gash. Does no-one take pride in their work any more or have any sense of respect for the source material?face_melter

- As much as I love 3D, model making is amazing. The original was just a phenomenal vision and superb talent everywhere.formed
- ^ its all about lens, lighting and techniques. To make a model work you need to understand all of cinema history. To make a 3d model you just need the internet.mugwart
- Shame with modern photography - the lens make the photo and subject immortal. I find digital looses all that as mainly the lens are mass produced.mugwart

I worked on this (and proud of that) but still but still can't bring myself to watch it. This is all my option but I couldn't get the change of the look and feel against the old one.
I have personal gripes with the set and wardrobe but it's mainly the difference from the lighting and the camera lens. Too flat and sharp, no roll off.
In case any legal's are reading this, people working on this project were lovely, as was the client and this is purely my cynical opinion!
I'm also bitter that Tom Hardy didn't get the part ;-)!
Really happy about the rave views though!
- I thought you did VFX in film industryRamanisky2
- It's difficult sometimes to pull away and enjoy a piece after analyzing it's flaws for what feels like an eternity.since1979
- What is it about wardrobe? (Seemed good fit -- lol but seriously...)Squiddy
- I'd agree some on the lens choice and lighting. Deakins did great and is one of my fave DPs nonetheless.evilpeacock
- Seriously, that police station was all high-key lighting. The original BR everything was dark, smokey, with deep contrast.evilpeacock
- Watch it. It's great. Like the original but better in many ways. See it before it's no longer on the big screen. Please.monospaced
- The change in look and atmosphere could have been better explained in-film rather than relying on (admittedly good) YT shorts.face_melter
- The fall of Tyrell and the rise of Wallace is a film in itself.face_melter
- yay I know you guys are right and I do genuinely adore Deakins but I don't know Blade runner is just perfect and what I saw didnt gel for me. Again not talkingmugwart
- against artistsmugwart
- I am a bladerunner fan, and after I watched 2049, I went back and watched the original again, and I still feel the new one is just as good.monospaced
- The original was great, and had its flaws. I would never say it was perfect. You know as much as anyone that every person working on 2049 was honoring the origmonospaced
- the new one didn't come even close to that end scene with roy batty.inteliboy
- that's true ... I just don't expect/want to have a recreation, and I thought 2049 had some pretty intense emotion as well as some thought provoking materialmonospaced
- If I had worked on this, and I was a huge fan of the original, and all the other people working on it were like-minded, I would see it once on the big screenmonospaced
- I hear you ... but I can't get over their lens choice...mugwart
- That is keeping you from seeing it? If you miss it in theaters you'll never see it the way it was intended. It's a really good movie. Lens isn't a deal breaker!monospaced

Some new footage. Looks absolutely fucking mint and even bigger than in the previous clips. LA looks like a glowing beast.
- yep looks good. and Ford doesn't look like he's be coerced into acting again like Force Awakens. But a lot of films look lovely and are utter shite so I'm notfadein11

- Looks good... I hope it can live up to the hype.Bullitt
- Glad to hear the glowing reviews...I can't watch a preview, takes too much away from the film, but love hearing the excitement!formed
- I love the original, but I always get annoyed with Scott insisting that he "created" the atmosphere and world of Blade Runner.garbage
- Massive disservice to Philip K Dick.garbage

Saw it earlier today. Great. Just fucking great from the second it started to the moment the credits rolled.
The locations and sets are mint and the scale of everything is boggling compared to the first film. Seeing it all in one go you get the sense that the characters are tiny, tiny, things in this massive city machine trying to hold onto something, any kind of feeling or emotion, to prevent them from being swallowed by it - like Robin Wright's character trying it on with K after a few drinks.
And yeah, I didn't know what to expect with the story but I thought it was superb the way it tied in with the original and pushed The New. No disappoints at all - apart from the garbage sound system in the cinema, the bass BRAAAANNNNNGGG's made the speakers pop. So I will probably see it again in a better theatre.
- The IMAX sound was unbelievableRamanisky2
- my theatre had crisp ATMOS and that shit sounded superbernexbcn
- Yeah, I was more of the mind of needing to see it on a big screen above all else. There's an IMAX at the Mall of Scandinavia, a short train ride from me.face_melter
- So I think i'll go there to get the full effect.face_melter

- Essentially, none of Phillip K. Dick's stories are like the movies. They use them as basic jump off points.ETM

I probably shit on this when it was announced, because Blade Runner, y'know? I have it on, like, four different formats and in various editions and will watch it until the sun burns its last. But this trailer looks great - all that colour and shadow makes me so fucking hard. And it looks BIG, with everyone lost inside this expanded world, while the first was very tight.
Ghost In The Shell did a decent job of creating a candy coloured future city of sex and Intel-sponsored plastic dildo women, but Villeneuve's Los Angeles looks like an enormous neon machine built purely to crush and fuck with everyone who lives within its walls which, as a disciple of Ballard, i'm absolutely cool with.

- have to agree. let's hope the script and acting live up to the visuals.fadein11

The sound design makes this movie.
Very enjoyable. And just like the original, makes you ponder the realities of a dystopian future.
- Ryan Gosling plays a good replicant. Like in all his other movies.monoboy

One of the best movies I've seen. Wow. So glad I got to see it on a legit IMAX too. Nothing quite like that full frame 3story screen. And, thank you Hans Zimmer. That was epic.
