I'm thinking on buying one... i do lots of illus now, and need to replace my old Intuos 3
http://www.wacom.com/en-us/produ…
I've been thinking about the Dell Canvas too... but it's huge, and it offers lower resolution
Has anyone tried it, or know someone who has done it?

"Virtually no lag" for $1,499.95...
what's the expected lifespan of one of the new ones?

You're far better off getting an ipad pro and apple pencil. I was in the same boat and settled for the ipad. Cheaper, just as responsive, far more robist a purchase. The pencil is superb... No visible lag, and the pressure sensitivity and responsiveness superb.

- Does this work as a peripheral for iMac? Like a substitution for an Intuos?fyoucher1
- It doesn't natively work as a peripheral, but this app enables it to do so: http://astropad.com/…yuekit
- Not sure how good/accurate it is compared to Wacom thoughyuekit
- Yep, it works perfectly in my experience********
- I've also been working with Adobe illustrator draw which you can then open straight in to illustrator on your mac with all the layers and paths********
- I've been massively impressed with the Apple pencil. The pressure sensitivity and angles you can shade etc with are impressive********
- I keep using double adjectives. Makes me sound like a right halfwit :)********
- can you set up the iPad Pro as an input device for Photoshop CC?mekk
- ^ you can, but you pay $65 a year for the privilege.face_melter
- I have both and use the ipadcannonball1978
- yeah, the Adobe apps make for a good seamless experience, and yes, like set says, it's a really good drawing tabletmonospaced
- Just got iPad Pro 9.7. Drawing daily with the pencil in Procreate. Kicks ass. Fuck a wacom.sublocked
- I used apple pencil and ipad pro + astropad for a full production of a tv commercial containing 2D animation., and it was AWESOME!Fabricio

^ @set; but i need to work in large files, in PS and AI... is there a way to use it as a peripheral on Win 10? Did'nt read anything about this...
- No way... i can use astropad with vmware on my w10 machine, but i think it's not as fast and accurate as a wacom directly connected via usb-c to my pcOBBTKN

- Not sure what it's like with a PC though sorry. Works perfectly on a Mac though********

I'm using Wacom's Cintiq 12wx for almost 10 years now, one of the best purchases I made for work.
- I would always choose wacom.grotesk_neue
- Not sure why when you can now get something for half the price that's just as good and can be used for a thousand other things too...********

1,000$ for the 13" ...
sorry but those are over priced AF
- _niko2
is the wacom a peripheral? ie you need a laptop or a computer nearby to use it?
if so the portability and million other functions or the ipad pro plus pen blows it out of the water i think.
You should go down to the apple store and fuck around with it for a bit, then do the same for the wacom, gives you something tactile to base your decision on.

Didn't Pinkfloyd do a bit of research — comparing iPads, Wacoms and Surface — last year some time?

Another option (I've got one of these, they're great.):
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/leno…14" IPS touch screen w/wacom digitizer
core i5
geforce graphics
$799does not work as a peripheral AFAIK, but it's got enough jam for most things you'd want to do.

Things to consider with a small cintiq-like screen: your menus and toolbars take up significant real-estate. In PS, a keyboard or some sort of remappable numpad peripheral is going to make or break how useful the small-size is for you. Pen-centric UIs like Autodesk Sketchbook are pretty nice without a keyboard.
- I have an app on my Surface-a-like called Toolbar Creator. I used it to make an onscreen tool/shortcut setup for Ps. Works really well.face_melter

Thanks for your answers, but now, i am more confused...
I am more confident about the quality of drawing on a wacom than other brands (there are some chinese cheap brands too in the tablet market, but not in this res. range), but the ipad portability and the all in one machine is a thing too... and then comes the big size illu table thing on dell canvas, that can be very usefull too (in the same price tag)...
Argh... not easy to do a choice, and i can test only the ipad pro, not the others, for to make a decision, and compare the real use tryouts
Back to start point
Will update with my impresions if i decide to go with one of those
- Buy them all on Amazon. Test out, send back the ones you don't want. But really, you should get the ipad pro and pencil.********
- Yes, maybe you are right with the ipad, i'll test it this weekOBBTKN
- iPad looks the best, you can bet sat on sofa drawing away, cable free, no problems.fruitsalad

It all depends what you need to use it for and the style of illustration. I didn't like the cintiq 21ux because it was bulky and all those cables. The worst part was the parallax (gap between the tip of the stylus and screen because of the thick glass). The cintiq companion was also a pain with all those annoying cable. It wasn't fun to draw on, and the screen size wasn't ideal. I didn't have any parallax issues though. I currently use my ipad pro and pencil and love it. There no cables, and it's light as hell. I love drawing on it.
If you need to do heavy realistic illustrations such as large landscape background images or concept art, then a larger cintiq would work.

Draw on paper. Vectorize in Illustrator.
0$ (if you already have Illustrator)
- sorry, but people don't use drawing tablets only to trace into vector artmonospaced

I can get it unboxed (the Cintiq Pro) for 1k €... they're tempting meeeeee

What did you end up getting, if anything? I've started using the iPad with an Apple pencil and i'm legit impressed. Started with Photoshop Sketch, but that is a shithouse for drawing - its only real saving grace is being able to open and use Photoshop brushes, Procreate on the other hand is very nice indeed.

Goin out on a limb here... I'm celling my Cintiq if anyone's interested...
- tank021
got a Wacom for desktop work, and a surface pro for late-night drawing on the couch. They are both very good. The surface is nice because it runs full photoshop and very portable.
- Yeah!! I've got a Huion 24 and a Surface too... Nice setup!OBBTKN
- No time for night sketchesnow, but hope I can stress down a bit and restart the habitOBBTKN
- Well, i am the idiot who proposed a fully illustrated book at my publisher. So I need to put pedal to metal.tank02
- Ouch!! Those kind of projects become a stressfull pain... Good luck and be carefull with the coffee ;)OBBTKN
