What you're looking for is called Delaunay Triangulation.
Lots of stuff out there for this >

https://www.jonathanpuckey.com/p…- meh tool no longer available from j-puckey site and looks like he's licensing it. Good for him.fyoucher1
- Another tool here>
https://design.tutsp…fyoucher1 - Thanks, but not exactly what I was looking for, more like 3D projections onto each triangular shape.utopian

Show us an example of what you are looking for. If it's a triangulated person, it'll be different than a projection in 3D.
In 3D you can map the photo onto your object and voila. You can also use a light to project it on something, but that will be more of a pain.
It really depends on what you are looking for as an end result.
- i try to find an example, and yes it is more like mapping or projecting the image into each each triangular facet. The effect is not Delaunay Triangulation.utopian

Design question? I think you have the wrong forum.

On a simple background like this, i actually think you could do it manually with the transform tool in PS. But that, of course, is not the easiest way.
To make it look proper, I think you'd need a 3D program of some sort (not my specialty ;) ), construct the shape in 3D and use the image as a texture.

Otherwise, you could try using the graphic as a bump map. Don't know how precise the results would be :)

Cinema4d simples.
Create landscape object, use polygon reduction to 'triangulate' it. make camera, import photo as texture, project map it on to landscape with camera view.
add a light. or use AO as I did here:

in regards to utopian's question on how to do this - if in 3D, you look at the triangulated 3D object straight on, with the photo projected from the same view - it'll just look exactly like the photo.
Hence, you need some movement to be able to see that it's projected onto each triangle face.
So going if your client wants a still image, i'd be better to take your triangle reference photo, make it black and white, then overlay it over the stock photo of the guy in PS.
