Do you have already clients to work with or are you jumping out with some savings and hoping for the best?
- BOTH, for sure. And i've done more than enough freelance on the side while at my former gig to afford my laptop and software, etc.baseline_shift

Great! I'm pondering the move myself. Currently redesigning my website to kickstart the whole process. You're very talented, I'm sure it will work out for you. If you have tips along the way, I'd be interested in hearing them.
- Awesome, good luck. Stick with it, keep us posted on your progress! I'll do the same.baseline_shift

Yeah, screw that job. You're way too talented with too much style for that kind of role. Best of luck and keep sharing your great work.

Jealous. Care to wax poetic at all on how you climbed the ladder to be in the position you were? I always like hearing from people who can objectively recognize their own success and the pros and cons along the way ... I'm drunk.
- At the agency I just worked hard and tried to manage good relationships. I continued working on my side illustration stuff the whole time, however.baseline_shift
- That's where the diligence name came from, I figured if I stayed at it i could do it full time one day. The timing was just right late this year.baseline_shift

I've resigned from my role as an associate creative director at a very large event and experience agency. By all accounts it's a great job, paying a very decent salary. It hasn't, however, kept me creatively fulfilled, and I'm burned out from the long, grinding hours of boring corporate work, travel, endless conference calls and passive aggressive email threads.
Starting in one week, I'll be embarking on a new phase in my career. One I've been dreaming about for almost 10 years. I'll be an independent illustrator and animator. I will be taking on client work, but also working on personal projects that I'm deeply interested in. I'm also planning on regaining some balance in my life, and actually spending time relaxing and going outdoors.
It's exhilarating, nerve wracking and a huge relief all at once.
If anyone you know needs wacky 3d illustrations, animations or gifs, send them my way. (dlgnce.com)
There you have it. Happy Friday! <3
