Anyone know a Wordpress wizard that's well versed in the magic of Buddypress?
Looking for someone to add extra functionality to a bought theme so that site users can create their own profiles and make posts to the site. Also going forward things like forums and maybe member to member messaging.
I'm guessing that Buddypress is the way to do this.Friend told me to check out upwork.com
if you dont know of anyone do you know of any other decent freelance finder sites like this?Cheers.

You should write about the model/version on the blog. You can expose it's perfect

^ yeah thanks spamster. Well that earned you one more click through to a shite online casino.

I was working on a fundraiser and opted to use https://ultimatemember.com/ instead (just as an alternative).
https://www.peepso.com/ is also a common alternative.
Both are, of course reliant on plugin purchases, etc.
None is perfect.
BuddyPress I found a little dated, like Automattic / WordPress can't develop it fast enough.

Buddypress is super powerful when you get into it. Far form dated.
It can create a mini Facebook for clients - way more powerful than just a members / profile plugin. You get timelines, instant messaging, private / public groups etc,

Cheers for the alternatives. Checked out ultimate and peepso.
Peepso might be a bit too "i want a facebook"
Ultimate Member looks a bit more indepth and so does BuddyPress.Going to send out a briefing to suitable looking programmers on UPWORK tonight to see if any can do what I want.
Is there any other freelancer finding sites out there I can be posting to too?
I don't want to post the site idea for the world and his dog to read, i'd rather approach individual programmers with the brief.- I've heard great things about http://x-team.com/, BUT it's less of a forum and more of a you hire them.

@ideaist - x-team looks like a real pro outfit with some big clients.
i'm thinking that they may be pricey though. i'm gonna drop them an email anyway :)

@microkorg and @idealist – I would really appreciate if you could post a little more info on their pricing. They could be exactly what my team is looking for. Sorry for hijacking your conversation with this request. We are just really desperate for solid devs these days.
Thanks a million!

riskunlogic - I've emailed them via their contact form with details of my project. I fear my project is too smallscale for them but it's worth the ask.
Will post up if/when I hear back from them if they give an idea of cost.I'm guessing it can't be too crazy a price as they have to remain competitive but definitely more than the likes of the $15p/h indian programmers there seems to be hundreds of on upwork.
