Are there any "Best Practices" for embedding self-running videos using HTML5 on a website? Particularly in the Hero/Brandbox area of the website.
• Buffering
• Preloading methods
• Using a default JPG as the video loads
• File size limitations
• Should I be using the video Codex H.264?
• Any recommendations

Some questions I can answer, some I can't.
I have kept file sizes around 5mb-10mb which normally gives me about 30-40 seconds of video
Yes use h.264 and turn off audio when exporting.
I'd only use the jpg if the video size is huge. But don't make the video YHUGE.
Maybe you can dig into the source on these.
