I like a coil bound steno pad. Lays flat, lined for notes in two columns. Can sketch/scan and remove lines via channels in PS. Cheaper than chips-- You can get a 5pack for the price of a bag of chips.

Post-It notes, rolls of tracing paper, shop receipts, A6 notebook, Google Keep, and the recycled hardback notebooks we use at work.

Strathmore sketchbooks are my favorite so far. They are cheap so I don't have to be stingy with the paper.
I do love the moleskins but they don't have the same texture and they are too smooth for my taste, at least the one I purchased. I do love the inside pocket, closing strap and overall look.
The ipad pencil and pro for some serious work.

i struggle so much with the best sketchbook setup...
i find moleskine's to be too precious and the paper too smooth.
field notes have better paper (translation: more tooth)... in general i like them, but they get beat to hell (by design), so aren't great for client meetings.
philosophically, i'm down with michael bierut's approach... design is real work, and the simple pragmatism of this is lovely... but a bit clunky for me.
what's your setup?
