so what do you do with video files, then?
- when was the last time you saw a QuickTime file?monospaced
- Transcode them to something else if necessary, or just use VLC to play them. It's not that bad.evilpeacock

early 2004 - 2006 I thought the FLV was going to kill quicktime (much like it did wmv and real time player) . But then MP4 killed the FLV and quicktime was temporarily saved.

- That doesn't really make sense, "Quicktime" is an API with a wrapper format (.mov) that supported a slew of codecs and features.evilpeacock
- I meant to say .mov. Remember people streamed .mov in the browser? I think only macs could see the format.hotroddy

The only possible need to for QT on Windows was to add the proper support to iTunes back in the day. This isn't really needed any more.
At best video/mograph folks on Windows might need QT for access to ProRes codecs, which are fantastic, but I'm fairly certain there are other alternatives nowadays.

Windows XP is already twelve years old. Microsofts support for Windows XP ended back in 2014.

What file format are you outputting projects as? Archiving as?
movs with black magic codecs were pretty nice

Yeah they officially hated on flash for being a proprietary system, forcing you to install qt to watch their stupid website.
I couldn't care less on what they think they need or not. Nobody but their little market share uses their silly standards.
