For around $350 you can get a decent one for basic consumer use. Mom and Grandfather both are happy with theirs.

- Yeah, really there are some nice ones there, you just have to be on the lookout, it's an event site. $300, is more realistic.drake-von-drake

there's some great deals on i5s at the moment at newegg. but under 200 bucks and all you're getting is a netbook.
- Lenovo T420 i5 2520M (2.50 GHz) 16gig ram, 256 GB SSD: $360 (fantastic price)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr…- Lenovo IdeaPad i5 2.20ghz, 4gig ram 500gig hdd: $350
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr…-Acer Aspire Ultrabook, 500gig hdd Touchscreen: $299
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr…as mentioned, there's some great deals and super competitive pricing going on with laptops right now. but under 200 bucks and in new condition, you're kidding yourself.
if all you're looking to do is net or clerical work then a netbook is a great solution. We have a couple HP Chromebook G1 and love them. It's great for simple tasks and connects directly to my home or phone network. battery last for ages and it's super durable. over all, a fantastic device.

and you don't have to go with HP, chromebooks in general are super affordable!
- yeah, I just posted New Egg Flash, it's connected to NEdrake-von-drake

you have to be careful with refurbished since the very definition of a referb is a device that has had the factory warranty invoked.
so right off the gate, there's a problem with the device. so it's best to get a device whose manufacturer is open to servicing that referb device back again.
