It's been a while since I updated my portfolio or took one on an interview. What's everyone doing these days? Large zipper pouch? Small printed leave behind book? iPad or laptop?
And does anyone still send books to firms they want to work for even if they're not hiring, or is that a thing of the past?
Figure I should finally catch up with the times and have something ready just in case...

Most clients these days ask me to to bring an IPad so they can see both video and photography work. That being said when I bring a print portfolio clients really love it so I guess it depends on, does your work have any motion components?

Most of my work is print or static web stuff. That's true about clients. But what about potential part-time or full-time gigs? Do people still whip our large portfolios with work behind plastic or are those days gone? Do people now just present on an iPad or laptop and then leave behind a printed book?

Anyone else gone on an interview lately? Any other thoughts/suggestions?

I love the idea of the small, printed booklets to handout and leave behind. They don't have to be extremely fancy and expensive, which gets the really pretentious part out of the equation, and they can be anything you want them to be if you have great photos and some decent copy to accompany the pieces. Of course, this works best if you're more of a print designer. I've used this method a few times and it leaves a great impression.
- I'm leaning towards that...I'm mainly print, and Blurb has some decent pricing.CincodeMayo
