I've got about $1800 to spend in 2016. Any thoughts on conferences to go to? Specifically things with a UX or design manager slant?
If possible, just buy an arduino or a 3d printer or an occulus Dev kit and tinker with it. Management knowledge is more in the tacit realm. Same with UX work IMO. You'll gain skill in those things by doing them at work. You should spend your education budget on things you can't currently access at work that will broaden your scope of knowledge.
If toys aren't an option, look for hands-on workshops as opposed to panel discussions. Panels are almost guaranteed to be a huge waste of time.
^ I actually already have both. Workshops and conventions are what I'm after.
