... or ear buds? Any good ones out there?
Temporarily battling some external noises while working and resting, unfortunately. Ear plugs are way too uncomfy.
Anything good out there that works well?

Might consider Bose, I'd imagine it'd last me at least 5-8 years

For $40 I bought a pair of noise canceling Sonys at Radio Shack. I've had them for 3 years now and they're surprisingly good. I fly alot and can throw them in my backpack, no case, and they're comfortable enough to wear for long periods. Plus I'm cheap, so $40 is on point.
- cool. model? makes no sense to throw a ton of money on these since it's only a temporary need. just need something to knock about.bklyndroobeki
- I've noticed you always get better sound quality from JVC rather than Sony, when you compare two models that are the same price, among the lowest price range.nb
- This is the updated version of what I have I think. http://www.sony.com/…stoplying

There is another option if you already have over-ear headphones.
Go to a music shop and get these cheap "musicians" ear plugs. They deaden sound more equally across frequencies. You just wear them in your ears with your big headphones on.
I think they're better for your long-term hearing because they allow you to listen at a lower volume and still hear all the richness of the music.

I had these things for a few years. Great quality and the most comfortable ear buds I've ever used. They have a nice, soft, oval-shaped piece that fits in your ear. Crazy comfortable and pretty effective noise canceling features as well.
