Where there's all these blueprint marks around a logo. What's it called, and what's it's purpose?

- it's eye candy for the client thofeel
- Not necessarily bullshit. It can be used as a way to stop the client asking for silly changes or questioning your direction.********
- Depends what it is though, of course. A large percentage of it is sheer douche-baggery********

they are called "post-rationalization-circles" and they originate in the "post-rationalization-matrix" which contains all sorts of stuff, like "ying-yang", "fibonacci", "mona lisa", "quantum mechanics" etc.

The original use for these was to allow sign painters to scale up the logo from a guide diagram.

There was a time before EPS files and scanners and large format printers when putting a logo on something meant you had to reconstruct it from specifications. What do you think those specs included when the logo is full of curves?
The hurr-durr when it comes to something as obvious as this is embarrassing.
- Meant to add: including those specs is still useful for the same reason. They aren't there to justify the logo!i_monk
