So im guessing this is no secret, but the mail junk feature is useless. In the settings I have it set to move junk mail to the junk folder, but it doesnt actually do that. Just puts it all in my inbox anyway.
Any way around this, and apps to install to make it work?

^ Yes as I said, that does not work. I have this selected--
If you’re sure the filter accurately identifies junk mail, select “Move it to the Junk mailbox.”It doesnt put anything in the junk folder automatically as it should. Need some other way.
- perhaps it's a filter handled by another party, like google?monospaced
- I don't use Mac Mail, sorry :(monospaced

Basically all it does is mark the spam as junk, I can see the word junk next to all of them, but its sending them right to me inbox anyway, even when I have it set to send them to the junk folder, so this feature is completely broken.
Ive done some google searches and see a lot of people with this problem but no solid fixes for it that I can find yet.
- interesting that it knows it's junk, but doesn't move it...monospaced
- Frustrating is what it is.CygnusZero4

Let me ask this. What if I abandon using mac mail on my macbook, only use this mailbox app on my iphone and ipad, does the spam filter work properly? Im willing to do that if it works.

Well that didnt work. Tried mailbox app on my iphone, entered my icloud info and it set my info was rejected by my email provider. I have no idea what that means.

I think Im getting closer to figuring this out. I deleted some plist file and re-setup one of my email accounts in mac mail.
Now the junk mail is being marked as brown which wasnt happening before, but when I do that it doesnt remove them from my inbox, they just stay there. Arent these supposed to get moved to the junk folder?
- Nevermind, still sending spam to my inbox. Thanks Apple.CygnusZero4

Spamseive

Thanks, Ill give that a try. This mail program is trash compared to outlook. Seriously time to get this thing into the modern era.

Ooh this spam sieve thing is great! So if I check mail on my iphone and ipad, do I need to install this there as well?

heh, totally agree w/ u. Same issues here. I had the manual entry of keywords in Mail pet's but after a while that became useless. Was accidentally sending wanted mail to spam, even after setting up a another filter to not mark is as spam. Plus, it does it by word. So if one filter entry has a portion of that word, it also gets sent to spam. Constantly checking if mail thats not spam went to spam. My email server does a lot but I do literally get hundreds a day that don't go to the spam folder automatically (have to drag from inbox).
Lemme know details on spam sieve once u get into it.

Using SS now. Its not free but theres a 30 day trial. Little bit of set up involved but it works great. Nice to see someone realized how awful the junk aspect is of Mail so this bypasses that.
