Have any of you used it? Has it helped with anything? My new insurance covers acupuncture, and I'm thinking of using it for some muscle tension in my shoulder.

I had knots on my shoulder for the longest time only acupuncture with deep tissue massage fixed it.
- oksarahfailin
- so, was it the acupuncture or the deep tissue massage?monospaced
- The therapist massaged me first then acupuncture and lastly, a happy ending.ok_not_ok
- So you have no idea if the acupuncture had any affectmonospaced

same, along with a massage, fixed up my back

yup, same as above (massage did nothing, though, besides put me in pain for a few days). It also takes care of 50% of my migraines (I give myself a treatment)

my wife's hand and arm were starting to bother her a bit...
she tried acupuncture a few weeks back, and it did wonders for her.
she would definitely recommend it.

I was experiencing a stiff neck (reaally crunchy bones!) for a couple of years which was caused by low back pain. Started Acupuncture with a massage after the treatment... took a while (about 5 months going once every week and a half) but finally turned the corner at the beginning of this year. I was doing yoga concurrently which the acupuncturist said helped a great deal with the healing (30% Needles... 70% personal effort). I Feel like a new man!

it's a very theatrical placebo, at best
- have you ever tried it?sarahfailin
- nopemonospaced
- because sticking needles a fraction of a millimeter into the first layers of the epidermis has no therapeutic benefitsmonospaced
- obviously you haven't tried it, the needles go a lot farther than that!formed
- its about circulation you ignorant douche. Its been proven in most cases increase of blood flow increases healingyurimon
- Also most natural healing that is effective deal with body toxicity. if you understand what really causes disease in bodyyurimon
- It creates muscle damage and stimulates blood flow to the area. Based in science. Not witchcraft.colab
- that's a proposed theory, but not proven to actually work, and doesn't explain long-term resultsmonospaced
- and anyway, that's now how it works, it's about the qi and the energy flow, dumbassesmonospaced
- ;) if you're into acupuncture, you have to try homeopathy, millions swear by it so it must be truemonospaced

Great info guys! Thanks. I am already a pretty avid yogi, so I think that acupuncture will complement nicely. Don't know if massage is covered by my insurance... that'd be nice!
- Try finding a chiro that has massage, sometimes you can get it covered that routeformed

I have tried it and it worked for me.
I had an accident on a vert ramp a while ago had difficulty walking, my leg was killing me. I was skating w a friend who was korean and he took me to get acupuncture at his father's friend studio. He didn't even charge me anything, and I kid you not, I walked out of there like nothing happened. This was a muscular thing, and it was painful, not the needles but the guy climbed on the examination bed and stretched my leg in ways that only a 8 year old chinese acrobat can move, then he placed a couple of needles on my leg (which didn't hurt at all) and left them there for a while, he came back after I started napping and removed them (which hurt a bit) and I was out of walking. Also
- so... it was just as likely that the stretching helped and the acupuncture had no effectmonospaced
- makes sensemonospaced
- hahahaha.. well..
what you have to say about our buddy steven below huh? 7 year coma!!!Miguex

my last semester of college, i woke up and couldn't move either of my hands. i started freaking out. i discovered i had a ganglion cyst in each of my hands. i went to acupuncture and it totally cured me. i also have gone there for back problems and general well-being. i highly recommend it.
- some of it is meditation too, your body really needs all of it. i love it.cbass99
- So, you walked in with cysts, and walked out without them?monospaced
- cbass that's awesome!ohhhhhsnap
- i still have them, but have not had any pain since 2005.cbass99
- so, not remotely "totally cured" and 100% probable that they went down on their own, as they domonospaced
- mono, once again, you are so right.cbass99

Do it and see how you feel.
Don't let anyone talk you into having to go for the entire 45 minutes, 15 or 30 or resting is just fine! Gotta crawl before you walk.
If it feels good to you, do a round two. Take it slow.Good luck!
It has worked for me. Although I had a practitioner who was a dick and lost my libido for a minute (worst fucking shit ever!)
- ...and I knew they were a dick. Should have trusted my gut.ohhhhhsnap
- wow. how long is a minute? where'd he put the needle to do that?? lolsarahfailin
- scarabin the needle was in the tender part of the ankle. it hurt like hell man I WAS SO FUCKING MADohhhhhsnap
- 15 or 30 OF* resting time is just fine.ohhhhhsnap
- also scarabin the person who performed a f'ed up acupuncture on me was at this place called 7 Star here in Oregon. it was a woman.ohhhhhsnap
- Oregon. She was a she.ohhhhhsnap
- for a minute. man. i'm embarrassed to say.ohhhhhsnap

I dislocated my hip getting thrown off a bastard of a horse and acupuncture was amazing for the considerable pain caused by having it popped back in.
