I've made some further research and I think I will go to Port de Soller in October.
Hotel Eden Nord looks nice and isn't that expensive. Any other recommendations?

I go every year and have done so for 15 years...
When we didnt have kids we stayed here

http://www.casxorc.com/en/hotel-…
http://www.mirabo.es/principal_e…Basically all the nice parts : Palma, Valledemosa/Deia or Soller, Pollensa
Now we have kids we bought a flat in Puerto Pollensa and it perfect.
That time of year it will be lovely in the mountains around Deia, Pollensa or Soller, as it wont be so warm for the beach.
Personally I would avoid any area that is either too british or scandinavian or german: Magaluff, Cala Ratjada, Andraxt, Arenal, Palmanova Etc...
Generally as a rule of thumb the towns on the interior of Mallorca are really nice, and I'd rather stay there, rent a car and drive to the beach, knowing you'll be sat around a nice square in the evening eating nice food...

Rented a villa there a couple of years back in Canyamel (north east). We didn't explore much as the villa was stunning and we just wanted to chill. But on the few nights we did go out...
Don't go to Cala Millor - full of old Brits waiting to die.
Cala Ratjada - More international crowd. Good restaurants and a few cool bars.
Palma - Caters for all.
A friend was staying in Porta de Pollensa at the same time. She said it wasn't too busy and pretty chilled.
Rent a car for sure. But pre-book well in advance if you're picking up from Palma airport.

palma is good, close enough to the rowdy part but far enough away to get some sleep and enjoy great beaches

Rent a nice convertible (I had some little yellow Fiat that was a blast to drive). James Bond for a day.

Went there last year but Menorca was way better, smaller and more "natural".

really depends on what you’re looking for... It’s been over ten years I’ve been there but I remember going to the north coast (Port de Soller) by train after arriving in Palma. Then travelled along the coast / through the mountains to the east. There are some really beautiful remote areas where you can walk all day and not meet a single person, which was exactly what we were after (mind you at that time the beaches of the south were heavily hit by binge drinking bro-mobs from Germany)

Going to spend one week in Mallorca in September/October. Haven't been there, so can anyone recommend a place to stay? Found some places that might look nice:
- Palmanova
- Port de Soller
- Cala d'Or
- Cala Millor
