I'm going to print in the morning, my AD has JUST told me she is short an image for an early DPS ... sheeeit gurl! Do any photographers out there wish to share an image and have it published in a magazine that has a potential 1.3 million captive readers? There is no fee payable but it's pretty extensive publicity, if you want it.
The brief: "Have you a stunning photograph of your trip to an Aer Lingus destination to share? Send it to us at and we’ll publish our favourite shot in the July issue.
Photographs must be a landscape 300-dpi high resolution file and accompanied by a portrait of yourself and 100 words about the story behind the shot. The editor’s decision is final."It also has to be from one of our destinations, see route maps.

Apologies for the crappy links.

Oh, I should add, nothing too processed, no night time shots, no people unless you have an unlimited release to accompany, and no weird lens bizniz, i.e. no fish-eyes, super wide angles etc.
- who takes "normal" shots these days, eh? :P23kon
- no people unless you have an unlimited release?jonny_quest_lives
- even if shot in public places which one would have no expectation of privacy?
jonny_quest_lives - If a face is recognisable, then yes.********

I don't understand, you need an image for a magazine but never budgeted for it?
- Exactly, you don't understand.********
- if you had a contest, why don't you have submissions?monospaced
- Exactly, you don't understand.
- monospaced0
You go to print in the morning and nobody submitted an image to your contest?
- There were submissions but none good enough. I am covering for someone on sabbatical, I sat in the captain's chair on Monday. It's not a mess of my creation but it's my responsibility. ********
- chair on Monday and was just notified this morning. Not a mess of my creation but certainly my responsibility now.********
- So instead of taking a reader submission, as promised, you're going to use a random QBNer's photo and make up a story?monospaced
- I'm sorry you're in this position. Good luck.monospaced

i just been to melbourne. got some photos of the great ocean rd. I'm not a photographer. They're ok. I can send if it will help you out.
- Thanks, but not a destination.

It's not a contest, it's for readers to get their pics published. That's the entire premise of the spread. I'm not using an image to 'sell' editorial. This is not spec. If you can, help please add something constructive, but if you just want to add to my stress levels, maybe reconsider, in the interest of enhancing your humanity.
- Yes, Aer Lingus customers who are sharing real stories from their trips. This wouldn't be that.monospaced
- Thanks for the heads up monospaced, you're magnanimity comes second only to your humility.********
- you continue to insult... why would anyone share if you're so mean?monospaced
- Because you have done nothing but accuse me of having poor judgment. Why bother commenting if f you have nothing positive to add?********
- ... positive to add?********
- You accuse me of gleaning a random photograph and making up stories ... how is that not rude?********
- actually, I was just asking questions and yes, I assumed since you weren't using a submission you'd have to liemonospaced

monospaced, maybe you are having problems at home, maybe you feel like your clearly immense talents don't receive the recognition they deserve, that's unfortunate, but in either case, becoming a fly and deliberately landing in someone's ointment is not going to make you feel better.
- chill out!monospaced
- I asked like 2 valid questions, so calm down, I wasn't even rudemonospaced
- but to make assumptions about my home life and then insult me is absolutely uncalled formonospaced
- and certainly won't make you feel bettermonospaced
- like i said earlier, good luckmonospaced
- If you are ignorant of your rudeness that's not my issue.********
- dittomonospaced
- Fair enough, I apologise, I was under pressure and I was less than polite.********

seems they do fly to melbourne, http://www.aerlingus.com/traveli…
but probably code share. no probs though. good luck.- They do, but it's through a partner. They tend to focus on their primary destinations. thanks.********

Are you also looking for the headshot and story to go with it?
- Yes, it can be repackaged as "Photographer Joe Bloggs", rather than "reader Joe Bloggs"********
- Headshot and 100 words back story.********
- i was seriously going to send you my images/stories, but you insulted me 3 times in one sentence, so I won't :(monospaced
- AND I flew Aer Lingus to 3 of the destinations recently.monospaced
- Good luck! I know you'll get a lot of high quality images from QBN.monospaced
- Thanks dude, you've been a great help.********
- Sorrymonospaced
- No need to apologise oh learned friend, your free consultancy on this project has been more than enough help.********

Sorry, I only have lower-res images on Flickr from our trip around Ireland in 2007. The raw files are probably on an old hard drive at home somewhere. Good luck though!

someone i follow on flickr, peter jot - might be worth a shot sending a note? based out of poland, and seems to do a lot of landscape photography.

I have tons of photos of Ireland from 2011 if you're interested.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mg3…I would jump at the chance to write something about the day we spent on the Dingle Peninsula. Most beautiful day I've ever spent anywhere.
http://www.michaelgallegly.com/i…- but did you fly Aer Lingus? Ryanair methinks :)fadein11
- Aer Lingus both ways from the US. Their in-flight mag is very nice, I've got them around here somewhere.mg33
- And flown them to/from Naples, Italy last summer, and Paris.mg33
- okay - you need to engage your QBN bullshit filterfadein11
- just curious - what made you think we flew RyanAir?mg33
- fuck yeah - dingle!! McDermott's pub FTW!!! Spent a lot of time there when we visited. Traditional live music!bulletfactory
- Dingle ruled so much. Such a beautiful day driving to the end. Had seafood chowder at The Half Door that was amazing.mg33
- Nice shots! Thanks.********
- Yup, Dingle is pretty special alright, did you meet that crazy party animal, Fungi!?********
- Eoin - we met Rafal in Dublin, showed us a great time!mg33
- Glad to hear it!********

A magazine with 1 million readers and cannot afford 1 photo - fuckin lol.
- "...you don't understand."
— eoinmonospaced - lol - i know i just read. for once we agree on something. ludicrous request.fadein11
- How is it ludicrous?mg33
- because the photo is supposed to be submitted via their competition... duh!fadein11
- Maybe the competition is closed on the website and not up anymore?mg33
- Customers you mean?monospaced
- Are you just being obtuse fadein11? Or, are you actually finding it that difficult to follow the thread? It's not a question of being able to afford anything, can you understand that?********
- ... being able to afford anything, can you understand that?********
- "...you don't understand."

And goes public with the fraudulent editorial practice!
- fadein110
Sorry - good luck with it all. I had a bad QBN editorial moment.
- mg330
eoin - Since Aer Lingus also goes to Naples, Italy, I've got numerous photos from Capri and the Amalfi Coast. I don't know if I could fill 100 words about Naples. A rather filthy place.
- You are a gentleman and a scholar, mg33, thanks very much for your offer but we got sorted on this end.********
