    This approach can also be a quick route to mediocre, lowest common denominator work. For proof, you have all the naysayers here (myself included) telling you "This idea will never work, it's dumb, I don't get it."

    Sometimes the world just can't see your creative vision, and you have to just do the work. That's how some of the most creative, groundbreaking work gets made, from the perspective of one person.

    Then, the following Tuesday, when you look at it again, you realise it wasn't all that, and you'd be nuts to pump your time and energy into it.

    Kid, you're deluded. The sports marketing world is pretty fucking banal and repetitive. Same photography and hero shots over and over.

    There's very few truly creative and interesting work being done in that industry anymore.

    HELLO WORLD.

    I'm obsessed with efficiency and design. Here's my story, here's my idea.

    I love minimal art, logo design, architecture, industrial design, packaging and advertising. Why? Because the best work in these categories is often the work that takes an idea and strips it down to it's purest form. Not a believer in minimal design? Ask Nike, research how the Nike Free shoe was developed. Google "minimalist running shoe"... Minimal design is not going away, it continues to expand and evolve in all aspects of life and product design. Watch a few seasons of Mad Men. Speaking of mad men, look at sports like the UFC, people got sick of boxing, including me, fight fans wanted a raw, more pure form of fighting: two men, a cage and a quarter inch of padding on their fist to prevent them from breaking their hands. Like product design? Look at companies like Apple computer and Dyson vacuum cleaners. They set the standard in their respective industries, beautiful, clean, simple and intuitive products. There is a reason why people pay a premium for said design, consumers vote with their dollars who wins. Look at the cable and television industry, gone are the days of being forced to watch ads on 5-10 cable channels. Consumers have options, they turn to the internet for their entertainment and share their passions through social media. People do not want to be told what to do, they want to make their own choice and share what they love.

    From an early age I've been obsessed with efficiency and design... Example: most 10 year old kids ride their bikes to their friends' houses or to the grocery store to buy candy. Not me, I rode my bike because I wanted to go fast and I wanted it to look unique. How do you do that? By making it lighter and more efficient. The same with cars, the same with any machine. I was 10, I would look at my bike, remove all the reflectors, chain covers, graphics and strip it down to only the minimal mechanical parts needed to function, I've always been curious, its in my DNA. How do companies like Adidas and Nike design and market their shoes? By making them look fast, innovative, smart, sexy and unique. My idea isn't that sexy, but it's smart and unique. I went to a small school in Hays, KS with an amazing design program taught by a man named Chaiwat. He changed my life and opened my mind to a world of design and problem solving. It was there that I developed this concept. Back in the year 2000, when the internet was just graduating from training wheels did I come up with this idea. When you're isolated in the middle of nowhere with only a Walmart and an Applebee's, you have plenty of time to think - I guarantee it's why their students turn out so well. Two years later I won best overall portfolio and packaging at the AIGA student portfolio show in the entire midwest region and have been hanging on to this idea for 10+ years. This idea is all grown up now and ready to take on the real world. It's simple design, smart business, innovative and solves problems on many levels all while being environmentally friendly and re-useable.

    Why do I bring this all up? Because I have an idea for a innovative packaging solution and I want to share it with you and the world. While my design is not a machine, it is lighter and more efficient. It's not a political year, but I ask for your vote.     FUCK (cap locks) soul crushing work. Do projects that make you happy and spark something. Been there done that, evolve. I moved to Portland with zero connections, no money, no retail experience, no nothing and I've been able to carve out a small nitch and it's only getting better. People thought I was f'ing nuts for doing that too. I've worked on a freelance level for almost every top tier design firm here and guess what!?!? It didn't make me any happier. Find your own clients, make your own products, work with people you respect and like, even if they don't like you.

    I now have a creative team behind both of these projects, partial thanks to all of you!!!!!!!!! CAPLOCKS~! Big headers! WIPs! galore!!!!
