friend has a common company name and we're trying to think of what .com domain options we'd have using generic words like (ie. mynameglobal, mynameco, mynameinc, mynamecorp, mynameworldwide, etc)
any other ideas of words to find internet real estate without having to change the name you incorporated as?
it gets tougher when you don't want numbers, dashes, or .net,.ort, etc either :/
tried to find some of those gimmicky name generators but they didn't really provide anything useful.

actually, i just came across this which seems a bit more comprehensive than what i was finding:

I guess the best variation would be something that describes what the company does
i.e. mynameinteractive or mynamewidgets or mynamedrugdealing

yeah, the problem is that those narrow the focus or scope and this company offers a pretty wide range of services so it would be preferable to stay generic and broader in scope.
interactive is broader, so that is along the lines of what we're after

@omg
we discussed it, but felt it was too web 2.0-ish for what we're after. we'd probably opt for dashes to get the real estate rather than taint the brand
- plus it's a short word already and i think most permutations would already be grabbedSteveJobs
- dashes are a spam signal for new domains in googletrooperbill

I've noticed a lot of domains using names like
www.isabelle.is/happy
www.generalassemb.ly
Not sure how you could convert that into SEO, but defo seems to be a trend right now

watch the repeating vowels and possible word collisions .. depends on the last letter in your company name....
like.... the Italian Power Generator company,
www.powergenitalia.com/or
ViaGrafix.com (Long-established graphics site, abandoned because of Viagra)
....is this a startup? if so, they're INCOMPETENT if they didn't check for the domain name availability before they named the company....
- and of course, the infamous and wonderful www.speedofart.com/vaxorcist

I wrote this post on how to pick a great brand name (and domain name too) http://s.shr.lc/11KeH9J

From my site, since twhite.com was taken (but it is my LLC) - thisistwhite.com... so
thisiscompanyname.com
wearecompany.com
welcometocompanyname.comThat is, if you can't change the name.

I recently did a logo for a guy whose name was X but the domain was Y. The name of the company focuses on the difference (X) while the url focuses solely on the service (Y).
