RT = Really Terrible?
kind of like VISTA = Virus Infections Spyware Trojans & Adware
Windows RT is more like an iPad, can't run regular windows applications EXCEPT Office and IE
Win 8 Pro is an x86 windows machine and therefore runs regular windows apps.
The confusion mostly comes from the Office team not wanting to make a metro version of office so MS had to include the desktop interface in the Windows RT version.
Now you're next challenge, finding out what RT stands for.
Imagine trying to explain all this shit to your parents or an everyday office worker
5pt multi touch...that's half (the touch) of what sony has.
@ernexbcn, thanks! Turns out I'm not alone. My favorite line from the article:
"... on the day that Microsoft launches Windows 8 to the world—a day that is the most eagerly awaited Microsoft product launch since Windows 95—Microsoft will also launch a device that runs Windows RT, and not Windows 8.
Think about that for a minute."
stop talking to yourself. :P
Surface RT is available for purchase, as of today, but not the Windows 8 Pro version. Does this imply that the hardware is different too? Can a Surface RT be upgraded to Windows 8 Pro when it comes out?
What are the differences between Windows 8 Pro and Windows RT, and how are the differences relevant to the Surfaces? It's harder for me to find the answers than I had anticipated. Thanks.
